OCTOBE R 3 OTH Bobby Holcombe, star Eagle halfback, was lost for the season with a broken collar bone as Milton downed Tucker 21-0. This victory gave the Eagles a 7-1 record for the season. Starting along with Holcombe were H. Phillips, G. Phillips, jenkins, Estes and Henderson. NOVEMBE R 6TH Next was a night Milton fans would rather forget. The Eagles journeyed to Lithonia as 7 point favorites over the Bulldogs and limped home losers by a 27-14 score. Lithonia scored in the first three minutes but Estes HOLCO.l evened the score for Milton with a 75 yard burst of power PE SCOR Es a few plays later. For the next three quarters the vaunted A TOUCHDOWN Eagles offense was stopped by a stout Lithonia line and Milton lost their first conference game in two years. NOVEMBER 13TH The last game of the season saw Chamblee and Milton DON'T KICK HIM! SOUTH HABERSHAM 21 - MILTON 14 Four days after winning the division crown, Milton played South Habersham of Cornelia for the Region 4-B title, A leaky pass defense was the Eagles downfall as they were beaten 21-14. Estes had put Hilton out in front in in the first quarter with a 60 yard touchdown run and again in the second on a 20 yard pass from Gilbert Phillips. But South Habersham was not to be denied and came back in the second half to win. Haney, Fouts, jenkins, and llhite were outstanding. battle to a 13-13 tie. Chamblee capitalized on two Eagle fumbles early in the game and jumped in to a 13-O lead before Estes, Wade and Co. began to move. Estes scored both Milton touchdowns. This was the last game for seniors Capt. Douglas Haney, Marcus Fouts, Lamar Wheeler, Don White, Terrell jenkins, and Gilbert Phillips. 4. WADE FIGHTS FOR TOUCHDOWN MILTON 14 - LITHONIA 0 Milton got sweet revenge in the play-offs of the western Division of Region 4-B. A regular season loss to Lithonia threw the Eagles into a three way tie with Conyers and Lithonia, but after the Bulldogs downed Conyers in the first play-off game, Milton won the championship with a convincing 13-0 victory. Gene Estes was the big gun for the Eagles scoring both touchdowns, one on a brilliant 70 yard run. Other stand- outs were james Dinsmore, Douglas Haney and Terrell jenkins.

wi oxldoo 9051 X1 OCTOBER ZND All good things must end , they say, and Milton s 18 game winning streak ended in a big way After rolling up a 14 7 half time lead against Campbell of Smyrna, t e Eagle offense and defense collapsed simultaneously while Campbell applied a 48 14 shellacking Estes Wade, Gilbert, and I-lamp Phillips sparked the Eagles first half drives but were unable to generate a scoring thrust in the 5rd and 4th quarters SEPTEMBER 25TH Conyer's Bulldogs put up a terrific battle for three quarters but bowed to a fourth quarter drive by the Eagles 7 0 The game boiled down to one inescapable conclu sion Milton had Gene Estes and Conyers didn t Gilbert Phillips, Hamp Phillips, Bobby Holcombe, and Lamar Wheeler starred for Milton 'ad H A T I1 A PPEN So HER EP OCTOBER 9TH e P34 O 0 we ox-001 at o OCTOBFR 23RD Lawrenceville was next to feel the power of the Milton juggernaut as they bowed 45 0 The losers never threat ened the Eagle goal as Haney, Wade, Holcombe, Eouts, jenkins, Dinsmore, and Estes had a full day The Eagles bounced back into the win column after their defeat by Campbell with an easy 14 0 victory over downs, one on a sixty five yard punt return Marcus outs, Don White and Oliver Mullxnax led the defense OCTOBER 16TH Milton scored early and often a week later as Stone Mountain fell 41 O Estes, Hamp Phillips, J B Roper, Wade, and Bobby Holcombe scored touchdowns OVER FOR A TOUCHDOWN . . . . , .
