What's so startling, Mrs. Smith? In the New Gym 063 aol ei we A Something to eat, at X5 upne ll up After a long, anxious wait we got into our new gym after Christmas vacation. And since that time it has been constantly filled with the shouts and cheers of the Health and Physical Education classes. All classes now have uniform clothing and we are taught to play and work together in a wholesome, co-operative way. We even like to take the showers after activity classes! ln addition to our physical activities another favorite pastime in the building is eating in the cafeteria. Here we are served hot lunches under the able direction of Mrs. Smith, her kitchen staff, and the Cafeteria Management Class. CLASSROOIVIS HOME MAKING M It's really a sight to visit this ,, ' department and just watch. In some classes one may see a fine meal being prepared or smell a tempting cake baking in the oven. In others, students are making skirts or blouses for their wardrobes and even learn- ing to wash them. Good manners, meal planning, and sewing rules are taught under the capable su- pervision of our three Home Ec teachers. Thanks to the Science boys, Homemakers get to see movies that are connected with their work. l'l'l Get busy, T .KRT What noise is left over from the shop is probably that from the Art lab. There's noise from hammer- ing metal on anvils, making jewelry, and sawing. You may feel heat from the torch. If you should open the door something might hit you in the face. Miss Mac would say it was a mobile. is hh.- YU!- f Oh, goody! Scattered all over the room are lamps, tables, and magazine racks which different stu- dents are making. l'nder the supervision of Mr. Hughes, one can readily see that many good craftsmen will be turned out of this class. Commercial Variety makes it interesting U lhorking up speed rv-1'--e The big question is, will it balance? This department, the busiest de- partment in school, is headed by Mrs. Baader. At almost anytime you can hear the rattle of the type- writers, see pupils writing short- hand Characters, or struggling with a bookkeeping problem. After obser- ving this for awhile this department may be classed as ---- most likely to drive one crazy. Many of us who dreaded the idea of first and second year algebra were pleasantly surprised when we learned how interesting it could be to work what seemed to be impos- sible and endless problems. Under excellent supervision by our math minds everyone can enjoy math. Our history classes are studying today's problems with the idea of understanding them and attempting to bring ancient problems up-to-date and visualize manners and customs in contrast to our own.
