Try to think of this time, not as an end or even a pause in your education, but rather an entrance into a broader field from which to gain more knowledge and experience. Even though you live in a fast changing period in world affairs, by holding fast to our American ideals you face a new world of hope and opportunity for all. During your school experience you have been developing character and personality as well as learning facts. Such valuable qualities as integrity, worthy ambition, and common sense cannot be measured in a material way, yet they will be of inestimable value in facing the great opportunities of the world of tomorrow. It is the hope of your Board of Education, administrators and teachers that you will become active participants in the affairs of our community, contributing your best efforts to improving its family and church life. We hope that you continue your education and take advantage of the many opportunities that are available to you. We will always be your friends and hope we may be of help to you in the future. Members of the Class of 1957: In choosing as the theme of your year book Achievement in the Jet Age, you are showing your awareness of the speed of the times in which you have been growing, developing, and living. This same awareness, from my observation and knowlege of you as individuals, has always characterized your outlook and behavior. You seem, somehow, to recognize the forward sweep of the times in which you are living and leaming. We all realize that such words as automation, supersonic speed, cobalt bombs, transistors, artficial satelite, and Dacron fabric were not part of the general vocabulary when you started your educational career twelve years ago. Then they were just a part of someone's dream. Just as this new and modern school from which you will soon be graduated was a dream in the minds of the people responsible for the planning of the education of your class. May you as individuals continue to follow this pattern which you have set and move forward to develop great achievements and dream lofty dreams which will lead to better things for all mankind.
