Mir-tnrg nf Ihr Qllttaa nf 19 2 Entering M.H.S. as Sophomores, the Class of 1952 began three years that will be long remembered. 'ln our first class election we elected Richard Budman as president, James Spotts as vice president, loan Sekscienski as secretary, and Harold Williams as treasurer, to lead us through our Sophomore year. The next big event was the selection of our class ring, the All Star. We then gained the respect of the upper elassmen by presenting our Sophomore Assembly. Double or Nothingf' which was a big success. Highlights of the extra-curricular ac- tivities in which we participated were sports, bath varsity and intramural, M.H.S. Band and Chorus. And so, the class of '52 started with a bang, but all this would have been impos- sible without our able advisers, Mr. Macalka and Mrs. Ruth Shade. Starting our lunior year with much more security than we had our previous one, the class elected William Showers as president, lames Spotts as vice president, Ioan Kieser as secretary, and Charlotte Mayes as treasurer. Along with the usual school ac- tivities, we worked hard in planning, decorating for, and advertising the Spring Thing, the junior class party. The party, which was a tremendous success, was kept moving by Harold Williams, who was elected as the first King of the May. Another highlight of our Junior year was the first annual Youth Weeki' and Career Day, in which we participated wholeheartedly. It was during this year that an evaluation committee spent several days observing our school life. One of the out- growths of their recommendations was the beginning of a student council. The Ki- wanis Club, with the cooperation of the faculty, helped us to form a Key Club, mem- bership in which is based on scholarship. In preparation for the big year, the faculty chose Richard Cramley and Charlotte Rummage as co-editors of the Echoes. Our very capable advisers for this year were Mr. Paul Confer and Mrs. Doris Beck. Well, before we knew it, here we were, Seniors in the center section of the audi- torium, the place we've envied since our Sophomore year. In our last and most highly competitive election, we named Robert Callenberger as president, ,loan Sekscienski as vice president, I-Iarold Williams as secretary, and Charlotte Mayes as treasurer. Right from the start we were busy, first in electing a student committee, which was to draw up a constitution, before a regular Student Council was elected for the first time in the history of M.H.S. We then voted on the color of the yearbook, and the voting, as our officer vote, was very close. As Seniors, we followed the customary routine of having our pictures taken for the annual, selling Christmas cards, and selecting name cards and C0mm6nCCmCnt invi- tations. The members of the Echoes staff compiled material for our yearbook. One of our successes was the Senior Class Fashion Show and Card Party, closely followed by the Christmas play, in which our class took a prominent part. Tl'e Snow Dance high- lighted the Christmas vacation, and the honor of being the Snow Queen went to Char- lotte Mayes. Our class play, The Man Who Came to Dinner, took the spotlight next and it was a big success. Our last big event before graduation was Senior Day, when the Annual was formally dedicated, and the yearbooks were signed. Our biggest year would not have been such a success without the guidance of our capable, patient adviser, Mrs. Charles Lontz. So thus ended the high school life of the Class of l952. The C.A.A., Hi-Y, Tri- Hi-Y, the newly-formed Key Club, the activity period clubs, the football, basketball and baseball games, the band concerts, and the dances-they are all past, but they are not, and never will be, forgotten.
