FOREWORD CZ HUNDRED years have elapsed since the historic gold rush of l8fl9g yet like the people of that time who were lured westward hy the promise of gold, we of today are lured by the promises of success and happiness in the future. Whatever our goals, we shall do our best to attain them by surmounting the obstacles which fall in our paths. As we, the '49ers of Milton High School, say adieu to our teach- ers and friends, we pause to glance backward at what has been the essence of our lives at Milton High School. The Orange and Blaelc Altho Williamsport has favored The Cherry and the White. And the loyal boys of Danville For the Orange and Purple light. Still we hold our colors, splendor Nor honor shall they lackg While the athletes stand defenders Of the Orange and the Black. Thru the three long years of High School lVlidst the scenes we know so well: There's a mystic charm to knowledge We vainly seek to spellg Or we win athletic victories On the football field or track: Still we work for Milton High School And the Orange and the Black. When our high school days are over And life looms up beforeq We recall those days of gladness That come again no more. Still we banish care and sadness, As we turn our memories hack.
