THE 1968 CLIPPER Vol. 19 Published by the Yearbook Staff Milton High School Milton, Delaware 3 Today, more than ever, we are reaching out to broaden our scientific, cultural, and spiritual horizons. ” 4 Contents FOREWORD...................................4 ADMINISTRATION AND STAFF..................20 SENIORS -.................................30 UNDERCLASSMEN.............................46 ACTIVITIES................................68 ATHLETICS.................................88 MEMORIES.................................114 ADVERTISEMENTS...........................122 SENIOR STATISTICS........................133 Brenda Wyatt and John Megee CHRISTMAS QUEEN and KING Let's go, team! L ' The Classroom — A Preparation for Life Throughout the years at Milton High School, the variety of class- room experiences and a broad cur- riculum exposed students to many areas of interest, which enabled them to choose a field of endeavor. Carolyn Jester commands the attention of her classmates. Seniors enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the Library. The slide rule presents no problem to Janet Reed. 'Romeo, Romeo - 7 8 Homecoming Queen Brenda Wyatt and her escort Eddie Argo Field trips prove intriguing and enlightening for Mr. Webb’s Biology class. Memorable Events To enrich the program of studies, special assemblies and field trips were added, bring- ing many experiences not found in books. Homecoming also took its place in con- tributing experiences away from the class- room. Nostalgia, sentiment, and pride filled students’ hearts as they cheered the team, applauded the band, and honored the Queen. Donna Wooters isn't frightened - The Atom- ic Energy Exhibit merely raised her hair! Observe, Communicate and Record New vistas opened up to students as they studied the sciences, enabling them to have a better understanding of the world about them. In many fields of science they observed pro- gress in the making - new inventions, new discoveries, conquering the unknown. 10 Sophomore scientists study solutions. Personal involvement is the best motivation to learning in Mr. Blechman’s class. Under the searching eye of the mic- roscope, objects take on new mean- ing to Tom Lawson. Seniors create a world of fantasy for the Christmas Dance. Milton Concert Band, under Mr. Jenkins, is an integral part of the Music Department. Aesthetic Horizons Are Expanded The study of Art and Music not only helped to develop an aesthetic appreciation of a rich international cultural heritage but also brou it out individual talent and interest in modern trends. The Christmas tree - truly a work of art. 14 Angela prepares to serve the results of her culinary efforts in the student kitchen. Mr. Mason's demolition crew makes room for the new library. Competence in Doing Studies were not all theory, but involved many practical aspects. Homemaking and working with tools be- came a living part of student experience in shop and kitchen. Physical Education provided active minds with opportunities to develop a healthy body through participation in a variety of sports. Dale Scott shows good form on the court during Physical Education class. Everybody likes ice cream. Fair-goer anticipates big catch. What surprise awaits this hopeful youngster? Common Goal Brings Close Ties A united effort of the school and parents brought about a successful annual event - the Milton PTA Fair. Proceeds are used to obtain enrichment materials for the various departments as well as maintenance of a scholarship fund which is available to worthy stu- dents seeking further education following graduation from Milton High School. Lovely May Queen Janet Reed reigns over the P.T.A. Fair. — r ADMINISTRATION AND STAFF 4 19 Administration CONSTANCE JONES High School Secretary ANNE WAGAMON Secretary CARSTON R. For some, this was the conclusion of their formal education; for others, a first step in the preparation for a pro- fessional career. For all graduates, a sense of accomplishment; for they had reached out through education with hope of attaining their goal by Climbing Every Mountain. 118 Shirley Donovan receives her diploma.
