Vk 6ku of] l%l 'JmmU I MUUmi Hujh School 2 doMJOM 1160-61 To the American Education Association’s list of Who’s Who,’’ the students of the Class of ’61 would respectfully add Martha Lowe, math teacher at Milton High School. To all who know her she symbolizes victory, for the cause of acquiring education. She has taught with vision on a spirit of sacrificial love and devotion in guiding us to a desire for greater learning. In knowing her one glimpses a rare combination of devotion to duty, love for her fellow man, graciousness, and a willingness to help another; thus, setting before us an example of what is required of one besides education for a person to take his place in society. Having known her has been a liberal education in itself. So as an expression of gratitude and appreciation for what she has done for us, we the Class of 1961 happily dedicate to Martha Lowe the 1961 Clipper.’’ dmuMAoMyOti CLASS OF '61 WE SALUTE YOU Webster defines a SENIOR as one “ . . . belonging to the final course in high school . . . a person older than another . . . more advanced in dignity, rank, or office . . A GRADUATE is defined as “ . . . one who has (satisfactorily) completed a pre- scribed course of study in a school and has received an academic or professional degree ...” You can be proud in having attained this goal. It is the completion of a course in life. You have overcome the obstacles, passed the tests and met the standards that have been set before you. In so doing, you have provided a foundation for yourselves and for your entire future life. We salute you and are confident that the qualities that have enabled you to pass this first course are the same that are necessary to take up the challenges of the future and realize them as goals. We have every confidence that you will do exactly that. BOARD OF SCHOOL TRUSTEES Mr. Howard T. West................Chairman Mr. Albert H. Lank...........Vice-Chairman Mr. Norman E. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS We, the Senior Class of 1961, wish to express our most sincere appreciation to: The merchants and donors of Milton and surrounding com- munities who, by their contributions and advertisements, have made our yearbook financially possible. Our advisor, Mr. Hazeltine, for giving us his time and service. Our faculty and principal who have educated and prepared us for the future, and; Our parents, under whose guidance we have grown to be- come mature and responsible persons. We entered our high school career with a cast of thirty-eight actors. We all felt strange and lost in our new roles, but soon we got into the swing of things. Several of us joined the various clubs, and three of our cast represented us in varsity sports. At the end of the year, all of us had gained invaluable experience and were looking forward to the next year in Milton High. With our second year in high school, everyone gained a great deal of confidence and helped this year to be one never to be forgotten. More of us joined the various clubs, and some were even elected to offices. We were extremely proud to have some of our own members actually helping the teams chalk up victories in basketball, softball, baseball, and track. And just imagine, four of the girls had been cast as leads in cheer- leading. Our year had started marvelously, and continued in the same fashion, for both the Valentine and Christmas Queens were picked from our class. Our Junior year, although we thought it impossible, turned out to be a better one than the two previous ones. A few of our fellow actors had dropped out, but even with a small class, we proved that we could become leaders. Our talents were demonstrated in the music department, and once again, in the sports field. Our class staged two great productions that year: a play entitled “Cracked Nutts”, and the Junior-Senior Prom “The Stork Club”. One of our girls again had the honor of being the Christmas Queen. Under the direction of Mr. Robert Edgerton, our group of players grew in spirit and stature. This year marks the end of our career. Soon we shall be giving up our places in our school life to our successors. Our Senior year is proving to be a spectacular one, in activities and in academic work as well. A lot of us have won recognition, not only locally, but state-wide also. The Christmas Dance, “Christmas in Outer Space”, was reigned over by a Senior girl again. Our Senior Trip, the Dinner, and the Yearbook have shown that we have valued greatly from our experiences in school. We now will be able to take our places as upstanding citizens with courage and a sense of responsibility. Although the end of this acting career is drawing to an end, it is only the beginning of a life in which we can make the most of all our opportunities.
