19 57, the 100th year of organized education in the United States, is truly the most memorable year in the entire history of education in this country. The centennial birthday of this event, to be held in Philadelphia -- its birthplace -- is to extend for a full year and will be at its peak at the time of your graduation. Though this centennial celebration marks the most important date along the road of education, there is no greater milestone than your graduation date along the road toward your future education and success in life. I congratulate the Class of 1957 for achieving this milestone at Milton High School. It indicates that quality of optimism and stick-to-itiveness which are so essential for a successful and happy life. I am confident that, with your ability and the training you have received from your loyal, patient and inspiring teachers -- several of whom saw you enter the first grade here, September, 1945, —you will be able to surmount the obstacles of life as the Clipper from which this annual is named was able to mount the high waves at sea. Your Class Motto: “With the ropes of the past. We will ring the bells of the future”, is a challenge. Seniors, I congratulate you and may good fortune, happiness, and the blessings of God be yours as you go forth to achieve greater accomplishments “of the future”.
