You, the members of the Class of 1955, have reached an important milestone in your lives. You are approaching Com- mencement. You are arriving at the time in your life when you are expected to begin to put your years of schooling to work for yourself, your community, and for your nation. How you face the tasks of making a success of your years of training is determined by the kind of education you have been receiving from your school, your home, and your church; the eyes of all are upon you at this Commencement season. It is the fervent hope of your teachers that they have helped you realize and develop your talents. They hope that they have inspired you to seek your niche in life, and that you will fill that place to the very best of your ability. No one can ask or expect you to do better. Now you are the captain of your fate--your future lies largely in your hands. Where you go from here is largely up to you. Someone has beautifully said: “Life is the mirror of king and slave; ‘Tis just what we are, and so; Then give to the world the best you have.
