MILTON S. HERSHEY, FOUNDER Ir is not merely generosityorliberality which characterizes the benelicence ofMr. hflilton S. Hershey. lt is something much deeper. It is something which only a graduate of The Herxlzgv lzzdmrlrial Srlzoul can understand as he leaves the school. Mr. Hershey invested his fortune in training boys to he men. He gives to less fortunate lads greater opportunities for a richer, fuller life than are available to most boys. lt is Mr. 1-lershcy's wish to see his boys enter the world and carn places which will be a credit to the school he founded. We thank him for the opportunity he gave us, and it is our supreme desire to prove ourselves worthy of being called his foster sons.

FOREWORD The hope of America lies in her youth- a trained and competent youth of high character. It is to that end that The Hershey Industrial School has devoted its efforts. It is for the purpose of making us a part of that trained, competent youth of America that Mr. Hershey has pledged his fortune. He took us from homes that were broken by some tragic event. He gave us a new start in lifeg he gave us a new homeg he gave us an opportunity to enter almost any field of work we choseg and he provided for instruction in those various iields of endeavor.
