Dr. Thomas W. Nadal, President of Drury College, in writing of those cl rys says: . 3' , .W D . Replying to your request for a word about the lVl1lroy school be fore the formal organization of the high school will say that my exper :ence ended with the spring of 1891 as l entered DePauw the fall of that year My first teacher at lVl1lroy was lVlr ll B Wilson who was Prln cipal of the chools at that time lVlr Wilson was one of the best lnstruc tors l ever knew H was particularly strong in English l think l learn ed more grammar under Boss Wilson as he wis famlliarly known than under any other teacher l have ever hid l'he next Principal after lVlr Wilson was W F Barr Mr Barr was an able and eithusiastic school man He did a great deal for the lVl1lrcy scl ools and was an inspiration to many ol us who were eager for ady xrced trainmf lVlr Barr is now Dean of the Q hool of bducation in Drake Lniversity Des N oincs Iowa i see him frequently ln my day the lVl1lroy school gave just two years of high school work When l went to DePauw l had to make up two years in the prepar atory department before l could enter Qollege This will give you an Idea of the progress that has been made since l was a student in lVl1lroy It has been a source of Great pride to some of us of the former days to see the development there l'as been in the lsome school and to know that vou are now a first class commissioned high school whose students may enter the best colleges and universities of the country.
