www THE SKY-ROCKET ww SALJLIE SMITH One of the best known graduates of the Milo High School is Miss Sallie Smith, who has taught the primary grades for nearly thirty years. Before graduating, Miss Smith taught a term at Green Plain in the spring of 1886. After' graduating in March of the following year, she taught the spring term in White Oak township. The next seven years wcie spent at Greenplain, Culpepper, Hollingsworth, Triplett, Sandyville, and Milo,County district schools. In the fall of 1895, she began her work as priinaiiy teacher in the new Milo Graded School. She has held this position up to t-he present time wi-th the exxception of the years 1902-03, during which she took norm ll work at c'edaf.Fa11Sg 1910-11, wihen she took a vacation except for three months spent insxteaching at Carmll, Iowa: and 1911-12, in which she taught the grammar grades in the Milo schools. Miss Smith has always upheld the highest ideals in the school and in the community, and has had a strong influence upon the many students who have begun 'their school careers under her guidance. She is respected and admired by everyone, especially by the young people, whom she is always willing to help and advise. Youthful in spirit and enthusiastic with them. she is their friend. She is known by a.ll as a most capable teacher, an earliest school booster, and a sincere worker for a better Milo. wwwswel 9 2 3 -w 43
