wwwwww ww THE SKY-ROCKET www DECLAMATORY The home declamatory contest of the Milo High School was held in the Opera House on February 16, The eleven contestants wcrc: Oratorical-Lowell Quiggle, Bertine Van Syoc, and Keith Botking dramatic-Oma Hukill, Helen Manley, Edra Puderbaugh, Frances Manley and Dorothy Harris, humorous'-Irene Wells, Lela Hollings- worth and Hazel Estes. The decision of the Judge was as follows: first in Oratorical, Lowell Q-uiggleg first in dramatic, Dorothy Harris, and first in humorous, Hazel Estes. The Four School Contest was held in the Milo Opera Horse on February 23, St. Marys, Martinsdale, Indianola and Milo being repre- sented. The decision of the judges was: In Oratorical, first, Lowell Quiggle, Milog second, Bernice Hastie, Indianola- In Dramatic, first, Hazel June Weber, Martensdale: second, Dorothy Harris, Milo. In Humorous, first, Thelma Haines, St. Marys, second, Hazel Estes, Milo. As a school, Milo won first. Lowell Quiggle represented M. H. S. in the District Contest held at Valley Junction where he placed third. In the district county contest, held at Beech, March 27, 1923, Lowell Quiggle won first in Oratorical, Edra Puderbaugh second in Dramatic, and Hazel Estes first in Humorous. Hazel and Lowell thus became our representatives at the county contest hel'd in Carlisle, March 30th. Each won a second place for which they received silve-r medals- +wwwww1 9 2 3 wwwww as l
