A special assembly was held on April 26th, in which the orchestra again participated. Alt also took pert in othe pageant presented by the musical organizations in-May. Aloysius Beard Qorman Smith! a peddler by trade, has his mind and heart set on one Queenie Brock, fLois Griffin! whom he has never seen and who advertised for him in a matrimonial bureaus He makes all his trips on horseback--on the trim back of his faithful race-horse, Josephine QRobert Page and George Harmon!. Aloysius visits the ,home of Newby Putnam Cdohn Clement! whose sour-faced wife Alice CUla Robinson! and freckled-face son, Beedie lRichard Sonier! are constant sources of worryg Cricket Gatlin lRamona Smart! Aliceis sister, a spinster, a rival for men-folks as far as Queenie is concerned, suddenly comes to the front and--would you believe it--captures the heart and hand of Aloysius on the very day that Queenie has announced her engagement to him. HA Midnight-Fantasyn was a 20-minute novelty. At mid- night, the Portrait of a Colonial Belle CMarylin Buck! and a Portrait of a Modern Girl CGloria Morin! awake. The Modern Girl discovers that the other is her great-grandmother, They' spend the time comparing speech, customs, songs and dances of the age each one represents until at dawn they are com- pelled to return to their frames once more. - ,NN A Z THE BEACON - '1 ff Nxre, The addition of cartoons and illust- i ey rations by the art editor, assisted by xx Orman Smith, established the WBeaconN this ! Its initial appearance ' was at a Christmasl assembly where its' .selections were Christnns Carols. On one other occasion a group of selective numbers were sung at a special assembly in Jan- uary. At the Junior Speaking Contest in March the Club again sang several numbers.
