I was born many years ago. The date of my birth I do not know. My life has been very happy and at times rather sad and dis- appointing. I have been all around- the world and have seen many places. tj .A Once when I was in Milo High School, I didn't have so good a time as I might have had,' I sat in on an, English class, and oh the way some people used me is enough to make one cry. Some would have-me in the right place but would snatch me out and push me into, same' inconspicuous spot: others would stick me in any old where, but I am glad to say that a few knew where I belonged and put me thus. If you have ever been, shoved and pushed around you will know what it is like--not much fun, gg' A Q Later I went ,South for a visit and went into a few offices. 'Most of my stay was quite pleasant, except for ga few shoves and bangs. I Q In spite of the bruises I get from being used so rough- ly at times, I do enjoy being a semiicolon, I - Down through the years I have seen people and fashions change greatly, and I look forward tof the next few hundred years to still greater changes. V Q I My life' will not end till the world comes to a closeg so I donft have to worry about old age and things like rheumatism, for which I am very thankful, I am going to Cuba for a while but, doubtless, will be back for-a visit later. I hope by then I will be more'of a friend to you all. ' . ,' , I Louise Hamlin 'L6 There was once a man quite unique, Who imagined himself quite a sheik. But the girls didnft fall I For the fellow at all, For he made only twenty a week. Jean Pelkie 'hh

X - WHAT I WISH I WERENYT I am a plus sign, and I am used Cmisusedl in every branch of mathematics:algebra, arithmetic and Miss Treworgyfs class. For xinstance, the- other day a guy named Edwin Treworgy hailed me and samd, WHey, slug, I need you a minute to help do some of this darned algebra that Miss Treworgy asslgned. Come here, will you?W ' So'I went over, and if he didn't have the worst mess of numbers, letters and minus signs you ever saw, I'll erase myself. Then came the job of changing places with some of the minus signs fthey are my enemies, you knowl. Working together we finally got an answer though, so that shows how important I am. y You know, it'sv funny, the places some people can find to put me. Someone usually puts me where a times'sign should be or vice versa, Of course, when he does that, I like to get revenge, so I hide half of me so that all he sees is a 'minus sign. Boy, that gets 'em every time. Once in a while I really get angry and I wait until the person has an exam coming up. Then do I have fun! I haven't any conscience, so it doesn't make me feel bad to cause any- one to lose a few points. I could go on and on telling about my experiences, but there is a paper shortage so Wthat's all there is, there is no more.W - . r Edwin Treworgy 'L7 AINfT A p I I'm that little fellow that lives down Bad English Ave- nue, Yes, sir, I'm Ain't. Being very' popular with, the school boys and girls and most grown ups, too, I don't take a great deal of rest. Ifm always invited out but only stay at one place a few minutes because I must keep all of my appointments. First I go to the home of MT. Theme and then perhaps to Mrs. ESShy or MissvHistory Article. I usually make myself much at home and strangers know me well by the time I leave. Yes sir, I'm all over the place in no time, Gee Whiz! You know there's something that has ,been bothering me though. It's got on my nerves. I 'must tell you about it. Maybe you'll help me. There is one group of people that has it in for me. This group is the English teachers. Goodness knows I hate to see them coming. They will mark me up with a red crayon, cross me out, and then I hear them give the kids o1d'heck' for associating with meg Would you take that? No, sir, I bet you'd put up a k1ckQ
