This brook likes to be still and think of things that are to happen. These three brooks remindy me of people in many ways. For instance, the first brook 'reminds me of people who like to laugh, sing and be gay as they go through life. These people take each day as it comes. so There are people who, like the second brook, believe in Wall work and no play.Vl Thesel people work and think hard. They think that play is nothing but foolishness. These people don't know the . Then there are people pleasure and work together them. These people do know real value of living. like the last brook. They mix They know what is good for the real value of living. ' nm-is Rhoda 11,5 ISTRING i ' In almost every land where spring'came in 19hh there were Americans to feel it and see it as they maneuvered over ground or fought through enemy air, But the three million Americans overseas, more than had ever been away from home before, would miss seeing this spring come to America. It seemed to come about as usual, not so warm as some people had hoped, more beautiful than others expected.

Y-'I 'aura' af,-se ' f' f :xi A4 ,li 5,5- As we feelf the lovely air come through the fragrant trees' and up from the new grass, and as we get ready to plant, we find it hard tor remember that this spring is not a time for dancing or rejoicing. The flowers will come suddenly this spring, as they al- ways do. There, will be no brightness to rival theirs as they open over the bare ground or along bare branchesn l Once again people are discovering and understanding how hungry a human body can get for the sun's warmth as winter fades away, y I. Polakewich 'L6 ON SHOES ' ' You know there is a certain something about a shoe that tells,to a minor extent, what kind of a person its owner is, Trivial things like eyelets, shoe strings, the size, shape, and height of the heel bring out the personalities of the shoe and the person. 'Take, for example, a long narrow shoe, usually black, extremely plain, having small eyelets ,and a modest one inch heel, and its proud possessor is usually an Wold maid.N Now there is that highly polished brown shoe, long, narrow and pointed toe, with decorations all over it and at once you say, WI'll bet he's a salesman,Wand you've hit the nailright on the head. Now let us consider the saddle shoe, the white part dirtier than the brown, turned up at the toes, thick red soles with bright red shoe lacings to match and you will most likely find it is worn by a gay, frivolous high school girl or e college co-ed. Then again is that small, plain, brown suede pump with a two-inch heel or the highly popula- rized spectator pump and either will undoubtedly incase the feet of a private secretary.' Those illustrations have shown how a shoe can tell a profession or a specific type of person but a shoe can also name a person. So as you walk down Main Street pick out your friends by their shoes,WThere's Charlie, don't those lacings look just like him,N or NGeorgie has a new pair of shoes but I could tell him anywhere.'
