Shortly after mid-season Mrs. Lush, our coach, resigned and Mrs. Ellen Youlden took over the coaching duties for the 'remainder of the season. Brownville Junction vs. Milo The Milo Sextette started off the season with a bang by defeating the Brownvilles Junction lassies to the tune of uh to. 21. This was a fast and exciting game showing ex- cellent team work on the part of the Milo players. Gloria Morin won scoring honors, with 2A points to her credit. 'Ada Hall was acting captain. - ,Guilford vs. Milo In their second game the Milo girls went down in a de- feat, losing to Guilford by a score of 38-19. The zone de- fence of the Guilford guards was so perfectly timed that our forward section was unable to penetrate pit. Again G. Morin was high scorer with 11 points. Marylin Buck was acting captain. y 1 Foxcrcft vs. Milo .. This was a hard fought game but the Milo girls were forced to bow to F. A.'s fast moving team and came out on the short end of a 31-21 score. Gloria Morin was high scorer with 12 points and was also acting captain. A Greenville vs. Milo To the girls this seemed like a-bad practice. All in all this was just one of our bad nights. Olive Strout played in Gloria Morin's position because of injuries Gloria re- ceived in the previous game. The final score was 35-17 in favor of Greenville. Alice Hatt was acting captain and high scorer, scoring 13 points. G c Howland vs . Milo ' This was one of our best played games' of the season, even though we lost by a score of 51 to h2. Alice Hatt and Marylin Buck were high scorers, scoring 16 and 15 points respectively. Catherine Strout was appointed acting captain

Hackett 2 Ga Carey 1 r GIRLS' BASKETBALL ' 1 Coach Lush issued her first call for practice for the l9h3-kb season in November. About twenty-one girls reported for the initial practice, and only five dropped out dur- ing the season. r . ' N There were only two veteran players left from last yesr's squad, Gloria Morin,e forward, and Ada Hall, a guard. The girls that gained berths on the first team were Alice Hatt, center forwerdg Mfrylin Buck, right forwerdg Ada Hall, center' guardg Catherine Strout, right guard, and Norma Hamlin, left guard. -The second team wee made up of Phyllis Joy, Shirley Harmon, Ketherine'Davis, Doris Rhoda, Sylvia Dartnell, and Olive Strout. ' The girls' season, on the whole, wes not too successful as the team lost nine out of ten games plsyed,but the scores indicate that many of the genes were closely contested. The girls scored, throughout the season, 253 points while their opponents scored 372. High scorer was G. Morin scoring llh points followed by Alice Hott with 71 tnllies and M. Buck with 51. ' The team was very efficiently managed by Janet Hoskins. At the close of the sefson Ada Hall was chosen honorary cap- tain. 1 V

Gloria Morin scored 13 points and acted as captain. ' , l Q Fcxcroft.AcademX vs. Milo A K The girls played.a hard Ngame, bat F. A. again proved too much for them and the final score ,was A2-21 in our opponent's favor. Milo's high scorer and acting captain for this game was Alice Hatt. 4 ,' Q , 1 ' ' ' Greenville vs. Milo I The girls again bowed to Greenville by-a score of L2 to 33. Our team played a fine game and really got to work the last half, but this was too late, to keep us from going down in defeat. ,Alice Hatt and Gloria Morin led the scoring with 12 and lO points respectively.. Norma Hamlin was acting cap- . A Q Guilford vs, Milo 7 ' - In the return game'-with Guilford the Milo girls were definitely off form and lost by the one-sided score of A5 to 7. Six of our points were made by G, Morin. M. Buck was acting captain. e J . ., r f ' -,'. i-b t scnenck vs. Nhlo. We 'The four senior members of the team, Alice Hatt, Mary- lin Buck, Gloria Morin,and Ada Hall, were especially anxious to win this their last game, but the game ended with East Millinocket the victor with the score AO to'25.t Alice Hatt was acting captain and Gloria Morin again won scoring honors with 22 points to her credit.
