Glam P THE PIPER-May 20, 1956. One of the main social events of the year was tl1e reunion of the class of 1946 at the home of Mr. jack Mullins on the outskirts of the city. Mr. Mullins, who is widely known in this section as the very eflicient engineer of the Tri-WVeekly Limited, running from Milner to High Falls, has long desired a reunion of his classmates. He decided the tenth anniversary of their graduation to be a most appropriate day. His classmates. many of whom have won national fame, are scattered the world over and it was only through extensive use of the telephone, telegraph, and radio was he able to contact them all in time for the event. Several days ahead of time Colonel Donald Hutto landed his plane at the nearby airport. He is now serving as commander of U.S. Air Forces in Hawaii. The con- tributions of the class to the world of science were the next to arrive. They were Dr. Claude Milner, to whom is given the credit for developing the helicopter, and Dr. lack Pilgrim, who has recently made headlines by his daring trip to the moon. They came down in Dr. Milner's helicopter. Coming down by automobile from Washington were joan Armistead, Ceorgiais representative to the U. S. Senate, and Mary Ethel Boles, a well known lawyer in the nation's capital. Billy House had just returned from South America where he had been building bridges for the Argentine government. Madam Eubanks, better known to us as Delma, is the originator of a famous line of cosmetics. Misses Dorothy English, Marjorie Head, and Thelma Kinard boasted a thriving dress design shop which they operate jointly in New York City. No one could tell more exciting stories than could Mary john Martin, stew- ardess for our round-the-world airlines. On her plane coming home were Bessie Mae Brinkley, a Red Cross nurse in India., Geraldine Crawford, a teacher in the same country, and Annie Ruth Edwards, a medical missionary to China. Driving across the country with Dr. Ioe Pearman, a noted Oregon surgeon, was Thomas Poss who was vacationing nearby after a period of government work in Africa. As they came through Texas they picked up Mr. lack Waits who owns a four-thousand-acre cattle ranch in that state. Annie Laura Willard is the writer of last year's best seller and is now making her home in Chicago. Fannie Lou Martin, an actress. and Dorothy Crawley, a director for M.G.M., journeyed east from Hollywood for the occasion. After a delightful meal the guests were entertained by another member of their class, Billy Moore, the famous radio crooner. Mr. Moore was accompanied by Miss Colleen Mann, a noted pianist, also of New York City. Before leaving the guests were shown Mr. Mullins' palatial home which was decorated by Marinelle VVeldon, interior decorator with headquarters in Atlanta. Milner and Lamar County wish to thank Mr. Mullins for bringing these famous people together and many civic organizations have requested personal appear- ances from them before they leave. --NIARINELLE WELDON 19
