Seam Elm Jlmfwf 1945 - 46 There were five members of the present class who started to school at Milner in September, 1935. They were Bessie Mae Brinkley, Marjorie Head, Fannie Lou Martin, Mary john Martin, and Mariuelle Vlfeldon. YVe were quite thrilled at this new experience and spent the next six years gaining foundation for our high school work. Geraldine Crawford and Dorothy Crawley had joined our class in the fifth grade, and V onceil Lott joined us in the sixth. Claude Milner, james and Franklin Tillery started with us in the sex enth grade. When the end of the seventh year came we received the certificates which cer- tified that we were eligible for high school work. The following September when we came to school we found many new mem- bers. They were lack VVaits, Charles Beale, Delma Eubanks, joe Pearman, Billy Moore, Donald Hutto, Colleen Mann. Annie Laura Willard, jack Mullins, Thomas Poss, Billy House, jack Pilgrim, and Paul Maddox. During that year our home room teacher was Mrs. B. H. Kenny. Other teachers were Miss Ora Lee Howard, Mrs. Florence Brewster, Miss Mary Littlejohn, with Mr. A. H. Shuler as principal. In the ninth grade Thelma Kinard and Dorothy Ann English joined our class. Our home room teacher this year was Mrs. Florence Brewster. Our other teach- ers were Miss Elmina McKneely, Miss Ora Lee Howard, with Mr. Schuler as principal. At the end of that year we lost james and Franklin Tillery and Paul Maddox. During the latter part of that year We were permitted to take part in the very happy occasion of the junior-Senior Banquet. Then we became juniors. This year We lost Charles Beale who Went into the Army. This was the first year our school had an annual- the TOP NO1'CHER. VVe got quite a thrill out of helping with it. This year our home room teacher was Miss Elmina McKneely, with Mr. Schuler still principal. and the other teachers were Miss Ora Lee Howard, Miss Begina VVi1son, Mrs. Stella D. VVorsham, and Mrs. Florence Brewster. At last we were Seniors! We were very happy and also excited at having reached this long desired goal. joan Armistead was the only new member of our senior class. We lost Vonceil Lott this year, and our home room teacher was Mrs. K. P. Domingos. Other teachers were Mrs. Florence Brewster, Miss Flmina McKneely, Mrs. Begina Turner, Mrs. Stella D. VVorsham. with Miss Ora Lee Howard as principal. And now as we come to the end of our high school career we shall be happy to enter new fields but it gives us a feeling of sadness when we think of separating from our classmates and teachers. -MARJORIE HEAD 14
