. 'USIYWQV ON MAT John Kline, Barry Dodd, Mr. Bailes, Coach. STANDlNG: Herman Rogers, Buck Godwin, Ronnie Crain, Edde Cathell Team The school took on its second new sport in one year-wrestling. Under the coaching of Mr. Bailes and with a good turnout, the team traveled to Delmar on January 13 for its first war on the mats. On January 21 they took on Wicomico High, the largest school on the Eastern Shore. The boys on the squad made a real team effort scoring 15 points against the more experienced Wi Hi Indians, who scored 30 points. The third match found Caesar Rodney taking on our boys who only lost by 7 points with a score of 28-21. John Kline, the captain of the team, has looked very good winning all his matches by pins or decisions. Herman Rogers has shown a great deal of power as has Jimmy Johnson. Barry Dodd, a sophomore, wrestling in the 130 pound class, looks good as does Eddie Cathell, a seventh grader in the 95 pound class. Eddie Messick is going to go a long way in wrestling if he keeps up the good work that he has started. Ronnie Crain, Glen Davis and Marvis Truitt have made some good showings and Ronnie Joseph, Gene Geiger, Terry Dorey and Joe Lofland in the heavier divisions have also looked good in their matches. Wrestling has been received here with fairly large crowds viewing the matmen at work. Probably no other school ever inaugurated wrestling so well so fast in varsity competition as have the Blue Devils of M.H.S.

Boys' Baseball I I '1 FIRST ROW: Tom Moore, Ronnie Hudson, Pete Dukes, Jimmy Murray, Ronald Wootten, Jeffry Derrickson, and John McCabe SECOND ROW Mr Klotz coach, Lynn Bullock, Herman Rogers, Terry Dorey, Joe Lofland, Charles Cordrey, Jerry Dorey, and John Evans. THIRD ROW Bruce Hornung Barry Dodd, Richard Anderson, and David Collins. A squad of about 35 players reported for the campaign under Coach Klotz. The big gap left by graduations was in the pitching department, which was filled by Pete Dukes, who had some hard luck over the season. Nevertheless, the boys managed to acquit themselves in a commendable manner despite lack of experience at several key spots. The highlights of the season were wins over Felton, Milton, Rehoboth, and our arch rivals, J. M. Clayton. Ronald Pigeon Hudson was among the top batters in the league and although Pete only won four games he worked more innings than any other pitcher in the league. Next year's team will be coached by Mr. Lingo and he will have as a nucleus Terry and Jerry Dorey, Pigeon Hudson, Charles Cordrey, Herman Rogers, Jeff Derickson, Ron Wootten, Joe Lofland, Barry Dodd, Lynn Bullock, Tom Moore, and a host of other less experienced aspirants.
