Opening at Milton with a decisive victory, they notched wins over J.M.C. in overtime, Lord Bal- timore, Rehoboth, and Felton. The first conference loss was sustained at the hands of Bridgeville by one point, 35-34, and then a non-conference game loss to Selbyville by one point also, 23-22. The girls, by winning their next four confer- ence games, can wrap up the pennant. The team is once again led by captain Willey and features team work, spirit, and high morale. i H Pat Lingo .Qt , Lf' , XX dw' I ' wx 1 t ii .7 ltd' ff, T511 s l l Brenda Orendorf

FRONT ROW: Emory Mitchell, Tom Moore, Bill Baker, Ronald Hudson, Jeff Derrickson. BACK ROW: Mr. Bard, Coach, Jim Mitchell, Ronald Wootten, Joshua Messick, Wayne Scorah, Bill Daisey, Manager. .41 ssl? KI Blue Devil Basketball Team As basketball got underway, it appeared that we would have a strong team in the Henlopen Conference since we had five Iettermen return- ing to build a high scoring offense. In the first three games the Bardmen fell behind, scoring a total of only 88 points. Then in the Lord Baltimore game the boys seemed to find their shooting eye. The game was lost by a close score but the next five games put the Blue Devils in the win- ning column by overwhelming scores as Ronnie Wootten, Jeff Derrickson, and Torn Moore started to appear in the double figures. To point out any one player would not be right since it was a team effort. As the Millwheel goes to press the team has a record of five wins and four losses and it seems as if they will have a winning season for the first time in five years. iw iv! wg TOM MOORE JIM MITCHELL 84

Basketball Team The J.V. team under the guiding hand of Coach Shields has started a rebuilding program. Experi- ence is what the team lacked at the outset of the season but with a nine-game schedule they are quickly closing in the handicap. After four games under their belts they are showing signs of im- provement. They will without a doubt be hitting the winning column by season's end. . ' of 86 John M.
