I Remember Gramps My grandfather was the perfect image of pep and vitality. From the time I was six or seven I remember how big and strong Gramps was. When he used to lift me high above his head, I remember I always felt secure. As time went on and I slowly crept up to his chin, his friendship saved me from many a heartbreak. When my puppy died, a trip to the zoo made me feel so much better. And he always easily persuaded my parents to give me things he thought I really wanted. Never went by a birthday or holiday without a card or a newsy letter from Gramps. When I was twelve, we were called long distance from a hospital. Gramps had had a heart attack and died the day before. Yes, I shall always remember Gramps. ' by Stephanie Schartz Creation What is creation ? Is it the birth of a baby? Is it the opening of a flower in early spring ? Or, perhaps, the thought of man? . Is it ALL of this--- . 0 Or none ? ' I Who's say ? ig J Suzie Simpson - N. 'x Xyyilixvxgyx by Ierry Alter Empty is a very large rolling desert .... or like an empty peanut butter jar. Empty is a deserted beach after dark in March with nothing but the ocean to keep you company. Empty is a new house or a cave with nothing in it .......... or perhaps an empty gas tank in the middle of a desert. But emptiness is quietness ..... the most wanted thing in the world. dmv g Empt .QW N The Sun By Billy Martain I see the sun Coming from the East. It rides Appollo's chariot all across the sky. When it sets, it burns the earth With its firey flame, The clouds afire---ever burning. Then it's gone as fast as it came. 96 L D, The Sea Darkness fell across the still sea: Day was gone and night was free. The clouds were black as they hung low, So fierce, so dark, so full of woe. With icy mist, the wind crept 'roundg The sea touched shore with barely a sound. The air smelled a fresh and salty scent Which mingled with the aspen, pine and mint. And buoyant were the drifting leaves As they touched the shore of the salty seas. Diane I-Iarris Wmwdfw Boredom Cycle Subject ? Dull. rx Voice? Unchanging. ' RANK Possible fun ? Her eyes show understanding with their pale blue. Her hair becomes bright red for a while but then calms down. She turns a lighter color as if not understanding why she is turning this way. Then she suddenly becomes dark as if angry. She is mad as the world closes its doors on her. She turns on her lights, but they are not as bright as they are in the daytime when the people pay attention to her. Then, as if filled with sudden joy, she turns bright again. People start to notice her, she is happy. Again her eyes turn a pale blue with understanding until again the world shuts its doors on her. Ianie Vance
