Freshmen Show Strength at Seasons End Havrng been warned by the coaches to expect a physrcal workout durmg the year the frosh settled down to a season that began slowly but ended br1ll1antly In the frrst game of the season Mllls held Capuchlno scoreless untrl the last mm ute and a half of play but fmally lost 7 O The most exc1t1ng game for the yearlmgs accordmg to Coach Herbert Comstock was the second game of the season w1th H1llsdale The freshmen tallred therr frrst score rn thrs game but fmxshed on the short end of a 20 l4 fmal The worst game of the year was the 25 6 loss to Iefferson ln the coaches oprnlon everythrng possrble had gone wrong for therr team m thrs game Only after three defeats d1d the freshmen put together a wmnmg effort W1th Mrlls leadmg 7 O unt1l almost the last two mmutes of play the Vrkmgs scored another touchdown to make the score l3U W1th thrs lead and wlth the clock trckrng away all team members were g1ven val uable game experience San Mateo scored m the last play of the game to brlng the fmal score to 13 7 an excrtmg 1n1t1al vrctory for the frosh The last game of the season was another w1n for Mrlls After bu1ld1ng up a three touchdown lead 1n the frrst half the freshmen played defensrve ball to defeat Westmoor 19 O Although the team won only the last two games of the season both coaches were very happy wrth the development of the frosh squad The team expertence of thls club should be of great value to next year s Var stty and Iunlor Varsrty squads BOTTOM BOW left to nqh!
