To Mrs, Gavin we leave our appreciation for her willing help and guidance, plus a homeroom clock reading, Time will pass; will you? To Miss Boggs the physics class leaves one set of slightly-used text books and a travel folder entitled EXCURSIONS FOR PHYSICS CLASSES, To Miss Stapleton we leave one family tree that we really shook, with hopes that when directing next year's senior play, it, like Ginny's appendix, will come out all right, To Coach McKinstry we leave new basketball uniforms with built-in guards, That way, everyone can play forward, To Mr, Doyle we leave a square crystal ball for prophesying the futures of the underclassmen, Why square? You guess! To Mr, Young we leave a flashing neon sign for the back of the driving car-- Caution! Keep safe distance! I'm apt to goof! ! To Coach Tim we leave a TRICKS OF THE PHOTOGRAPHY TRADE MANUAL, whose motto is-- To avoid subjects criticism and tales of woe, Make sure the photo resembles Marilyn Monroe, To Miss Johnson we leave a set of dictaphones so that the strange language of shorthand may be eliminated, To Miss Fiola we teave our best wishes on her coming marriage and a honeymoon ticket to Gai Paris, To Mrs, Sullivan the business girls leave their typewriters with the keyboards practically worn away from hard manual labor, To Miss Currivan and the cooks we leave the hungry underclassmen to be fed, To Miss Nolan we leave our famous last words when caught making a disturbance in class-- Ain't Misbehavin ! ! Donald Ackroyd leaves his curly ringlets to Bob Kelly guaranteeing Lilt to be superior to Toni, June Barrier leaves to the highes bidder her filing book in A-1 condition, You'd swear it had never been used, Hmmmmmmmm! Betty Bentley leaves her brother Alan, Ann Derderian leaves to Enda Zolden her privileged eyes that viewed her favorite TV celebrity in person, Wonder who that could be? Ginny DuHamel leaves to Betty Costa, alias Tex, the horse that lodges in the Windy Knoll Stable-- sawhorse, that is, Pat Fleming, realizing Thomas Keough's ambition, leaves her cheerleading uniform, for now our Patty can’t cheer as she has her “Lip-Sett.” Nancy Gylfe leaves, taking her natural blond hair with her, Sorry, girls! Billy Keough leaves his fondness for the country girl” (not the movie), Isaac Kramnick leaves his gavel to the next senior president for use in class meetings, either to bang on wooden desks or bang on wooden heads, Ginny Lydon leaves for the wild blue yonder, Need we say more? ? Marilyn Mael leaves her extensive wardrobe to Little Orphan Annie who has been wearing the same dress for years, Olga Maranjian leaves to Marlene Belanger a pair of scissors with the engraved insciption--I wish I may, I wish I might, Still have the hair I cut last night, Valerie McLean leaves a king-size bottle of liniment to Joan F, to be applied to each arm after she has led the graduation procession, Eddie Thatcher leaves! ! Gerry Nirenberg, our Don Juan, thought leaving the girls to the boys would be a nice arrangement, Dick Pixley leaves his set of vocal cords to Bobby Morrison, Perry Como asked for them, but you're the lucky one, Mo! Eddie Rogers leaves his arguments in class to be carried on by David, George Smith leaves in his white bomber, Shirley Spencer leaves her acting ability in the senior play to next year's child star, Who knows, she may be another Baby Snooks! Dickie Woodin leaves his height to George V. Up you go! CLASS HISTORY The History of the Class of 1955 started back on one fateful day in September, 1951, Twenty- five anxious teen-agers, looking for a high school education, stomped up the back stairs and settled in Mrs, Gavin's room, We held our class election and chose the following: President, Virginia DuHamel; Vice President, Alan Newell; Secretary, Olga Maranjian; Treasurer, June Barrier; Cheerleader, Olga Maranjian, Although we didn't run any events during the year, frequent class meetings were held, at which the boys kept trying to impeach Ginny DuHamel, because they didn't like the efficient way she conducted the meetings, When we returned the following September, we were sorry to find that many of our classmates had left, Dick Pixley and Richard Woodin entered this year and proved to be a welcome addition, We elected the following: President, Alan Newell; Vice President, George Smith; Secretary, William Keough; Treasurer, Donald Ackroyd; Cheerleaders: Olga Maranjian, Elaine Christian, and Virginia DuHamel, After much discussion, we ordered our class rings from Bastian Bros, Mrs, Kenney, after trying to teach us biology and having to listen to our quarrels over class rings, felt she had ample qualifications to apply for the head nurse s job at Medfield State Hospital, Upon returning in September, we convened in the Junior room under the supervision of Miss Stapleton, The following were elected: President, Valerie McLean; Vice President, George Smith; Secretary, Olga Maranjian; Treasurer, Donald Ackroyd; Cheerleaders, Olga Maranjian, Virginia DuHamel, and Pat Fleming. We held a penny sale in November to help defray some of the expenses of our Junior Prom, After the penny sale we discovered that we had erroneously forgotten to raffle off a case of coke and two cakes, so we went up to Ginny DuHamel's and had a party, We worked hard on our prom during the next few months and finally the great day arrived, As Eddie Winiker's Orchestra played “Anchors Aweigh, the grand march, led by Valerie McLean, began an evening of great excitement and success, At graduation, Isaac Kramnick was awarded the medal for excellence in history and William Keough received the Harvard Book Award, Shirley Spencer was chosen to attend Girls’ State and Isaac Kramnick and Richard Woodin to attend Boys State, In the citizenship test given at Boys State, history was made for Millis when Isaac achieved a perfect score of 100% and Dick attained a score of 98%, The summer months flew by and before we knew it we were back in the halls of M.H.S, We were sorry to see Alan Newell move to Walpole as he was well liked by all, but were happy to welcome Nancy Gylfe to our class; When Mrs, Gavin discovered she was to be our homeroom teacher, she was overheard saying to Mr, Brown, “What did I do to deserve them again? We immediately elected the following: President, Issac Kramnick; Vice President, George Smith; Secretary, Olga Maranjian; Treasurer, Virginia DuHamel; Cheerleaders, Olga Maranjian, Vir- ginia DuHamel, and Pat Fleming, With the help of our parents, we ran three dances, sold refreshments at football games, sold Christmas cards, and ran other activities to help raise money for our Washington trip, In Decem- ber we held our Senior Play, “We Shook the Family Tree, under the direction of Miss Stapleton, Through the combined efforts of Mrs, Gavin, Shirley, and Pat, our yearbook, THE CRIMSON LIGHT, was very successful, Happy to have raised enough money to make it to Washington and back, we set out on April 17, Our chaperones for the trip were Mr, Tim and Miss Boggs, to whom we owe our heart-felt thanks, , As our'class gathers here tonight, I know each of us truly feels that we have only climbed the hill, and that the mountain lies before us, DONALD ACKROYD
