Valedictorian and Salutatorian Christy McManus is the Valedictorian for the graduating class of 1987 with an average of 98.3. Her activities during four years at MCHS include cheerleading and membership in various clubs, including Arete her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Beta Club her sophomore, junior, and senior years, and National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta her junior and senior years. Christy has also been involved with the school government as class vice-president during her freshman year. She has also served on the Trojan yearbook staff for two years. Christy’s future plan is to major in chemical engineering at Christian Brothers College. This year’s Salutatorian is Mary Tietz with an average of 97.7. During her four years at MCHS, Mary has been involved in numerous clubs including National Honor Society, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and Arete. Mary has also been actively involved in theatre and choir. She has been in the school’s productions of “Working”, “Li’l Abner”, and “Bye, Bye Birdie”. She has been involved in the MCHS choir since her freshman year, and during her junior year was named to the All-West Tennessee choir. Mary plans to major in chemical engineering. Diary of Anne Frank This year's spring theatre production was “Diary of Anne Frank.” It tells a story of a young girl, Anne Frank, and her experiences while hiding from the Nazis. This is a rather demanding play that demands complete seriousness on the actors' and actresses' parts. Mr. Collins, the new director of theatre, should be commended for his efforts. The “Diary of Anne Frank proved to be the return of dramatic theatre to the Millington stage, hopefully to set a trend for many years to come.
