Color Us . . . Lively MCHS has long been known as a school with lively students. When the bell rings at the end of the day, we hurry either to our buses and cars, or to any other place that may require our presence. Many of us go to work at fast food restaurants such as Wendy’s, McDonald’s, or Taco Bell or at stores and shops such as Bud-n-Vase. Wal-Mart, or Revco. Others stay behind and practice: the football team, the band, the cheerleading squad, and theater students. While we are in school, we enjoy being lively at pep assemblies. When competing for the spirit stick, each class attempts to outcheer the other; but all are rooting for our various sporting teams. We also show our liveliness through our club meetings each Tuesday during homeroom. Any other day of the week, we could be caught either sleeping on our books or scrambling to finish forgotten homework. Every Tuesday, however, everyone gets ready to go to Pep Club, Beta Club, Sadd, Rodeo Club or a variety of other clubs which are open to students at MCHS. Our liveliness is also shown at out-of-school activities. At football games, one of the liveliest parts of the game is the scoring of a touchdown by our Trojans. At half-time, the crowd screams as the Mighty Trojan Band performs the “Pee Wee Herman.” Whether on the job or off, our lively spirit shines through. opening 15

Student Life It cannot be said that students of MCHS conform to the same standards or heed the same call. The diverse student body participated in a variety of clubs, sports, and activities. For example, the members of the biology classes went to Shelby Forest on a field trip, the Maranatha Club appealed to those of Christian beat while to the members of the Thespian Club, “all the world’s a stage,” where upon players performed for audiences. The competition for the title of Miss Millington is an activity in which many girls of MCHS participated. During the school dances, such as Homecoming, Winter Festival, Cupid’s Ball, and Sadie Hawkins, many students took advantage of a chance to really “cut loose.” To members of the newspaper and yearbook staffs, “Have page, will edit” has become a motto. Athletes participated in a variety of sports such as football, track, and wrestling. Many students of MCHS also expressed their support for athletics through the Pep Club. Finally, members of the chorus and band marched quite literally, to the beat of a different drum. In MCHS, our greatest strengths are our differences. Student l.ife 17
