Although the men ' s rush week on Millikin ' s campus is less formal than the women ' s, it accomplished the same purpose. Men have an opportunity to meet each other and decide with whom they wish to be brothers. As you can see from the pictures above, the boys go in for skits and songs and conversation almost as much as the girls do. In addition, there are free meals and football games, handshakes and friendly greetings. All this is preliminary to joining a fraternity, to pledging oneself to brotherhood. « 21 »

Rush Week Every year rush week is hectic, tiring, excit- ing, and fun. The 1961 rush week was no ex- ception. Many opportunities were provided for the rushees to meet the actives at evening openhouses, invitationals, and preferentials. Themes added continuity to each organiza- tion ' s rush parties — rushes traveled from Ger- many to Scotland and from dreamland to fairy- land. Songs, refreshments, skits, and conversa- tion made two hours seem like two minutes. The results of the 1961 rush week were suc- cessful, for many friends were made that will last a lifetime and many memories were cre- ated that will last just as long. « 20 »

Parents ' Day September 30, 1961, was Millikin ' s third Parents ' Day. Co-chairman were Barbara Flint and Jim Hoffman. Betty Atchison, Judy Hutton, and Bonnie Brooks served as chairman of the sub-committees. Many activities were planned for the parents — registration and coffee, faculty visits, campus tours, an assembly, and a Stu- dent Council-President ' s Reception in the Uni- versity Center. At the assembly, President Mc- Kay, faculty members and student leaders in- terpreted the nature of Millikin ' s educational curriculum and activities to the parents. The big event of the afternoon was the Big Blue ' s victorious football game with Carthage Col- lege. Co-Chairmen Barb and Jim Student Council-President ' s Reception Parent ' s Day assembly program
