The college has been growing steadily through the past ten years and new housing is essential if the growth is to continue. Ksti mates are that by 1970 the enrollment at MSTC will reach and pass the 2.000 mark. Hard Hall—new. modern in every rcs| cct—a symbol of the Millersville that after 105 years is looking ahead towards new horizons.

FOREWORD Millcrsvillc Slate Teachers College is meeting the de-mantis of the modern trend in education. This year has shown evidence of this fact by expansion in many areas. Indications of the college expansion arc the new buildings recently erected and a larger student enrollment. Bard Hall, the new men’s dormitory, was built to accommodate the increasing number of men living on campus. ’Hie new Industrial Arts building will provide modern equipment and surroundings for ail Industrial Arts and Art classes. Erection of these new buildings and movement of the ail-ministration offices will lead to the eventual abandonment of Old Main. In the future, students attending the new Millcrsvillc State College” will not be familiar with the historic Old Main which has housed students and administration since the college was founded, hut will, instead, witness a new and modern building erected on the previous site of Old Main. Academically, expansion is also a keynote to the future. Recent additions to the faculty, introduction of new courses such as Russian, and curriculum revisions have raised the academic status of the College. The college name has also experienced a revision. The hill which was passed by the State Legislature makes the 11 former Teachers Colleges in the Commonwealth State Colleges—thus changing our name to Millcrsvillc State College. However, since the name change came too late, this yearbook must necessarily retain the old MSTC name for this edition. Also with the recent approval of the State Council of Education, Millcrsvillc will offer graduate work in Industrial Arts and Elementary Education starting this summer. We. of the yearbook staff, have tried to depict, informally, the modern Millcrsvillc through the use of pictures and extensive art work. 4
