Breath-taking discoveries in the realm of science und technology which open new and startling vistas to man's gaze call for an accompaniment of wisdom and vision in the arts and the humanities in order that benign mastery of the product of this new knowledge may hi- achieved and pur poseful direction given to man's progress. To attain these ends and to provide reasonable assurance of translating new knowledge into a maximum of well-being for all. the teacher stands in a place of critical importance. To the degree that the teacher senses the significance of his role in the human drama, to that same degree will the future for us and for men everywhere he characterized by goodness and justice, wisdom and | eace.
