MEN'S VARSITY CLIR I’he Men's Varsity Club is responsible for many activities at Millersville besides athletic events. They are sponsors of two of the biggest dances of the school year: the Varsity Drag and the Spring Hop. They arc also responsible for the refreshments and programs at the sporting events. The highlight of the year is the selection of the Varsity Sweetheart. The Queen is nominated and elected by the club members. This year’s choice to reign at the Homecoming festivities was Miss Barbara Brown of Highspire. The season’s outlook was dim, for Coach Santaniello was forced to field a green team. Returning letterinen were few, as twenty-six men had been lost through graduation and military service. In the first game, the game in which teams are made or broken, the Marauders were broken by East Stroudsburg by a score of 31-0. Entertaining Lock Haven at home, the following Saturday, the Marauders were again blanked 24-0. At Kutztown, the team played good ball while going down in defeat 6-0, and in a hard fought game played on Parents’ Day, they lost out in the last period, again by the score of 6-0. Ship-pensburg pulled out all the stops and defeated MSTC 65-0. The West Chester game was cancelled due to 13 inches of snow. In the final game, the Santaniello men lost to Mansfield 26-7. The Millcrsvillc touchdown came in the final period with senior Bob Peffley going over for the score. Seniors on the squad are co-captains Bob Peffley and Juice” Savastano. Eddie Berger, Pete Cadden, Harold Gerrick, Tony Paviglianiti, and Max Riley. Vice Verhos, 63, carries the ball against Lock Haven.
