Here Tuffy is about to pass. Hump Snyder 1205 is doing the blocking. The cheerleaders, Ruth Fulkrod, Mary Gladys Coleman. Joan Messersmith. Mary Dan- iels, June Hurko, and Mary Lou Schaeffer have been a very active part of the school. The rousing cheers led by them put new spark in the morale of both the football players and the spectators. The four who graduate this year will be greatly missed. Again in the Thanksgiving game, Tuffy goes off tackle with the ball, but runs into opposition. FCDQTBALL RESUME - - - The Indians began the season by going to Wil- liamstown, to be downed by one point in a hard game. The Klillersburg eleven scored first. in the third quarter when Dockey went over in a swift plunge to make the score vi to o. Hut in the fourth quarter Xkiilliamstown ran for a touchdown and an extra point, to defeat the Indians seven to six, The next week Burnham bowed to the Indians in a smashing defeat of fl-1 to fl. Twice in the first quarter the Millersburg eleven scored, with success- ful kicks by Keiper making the score 14 to lr early in the game. Burnham made one long run of -10 yards. but a fumble prevented their scoring. Other highlights of the game were an 85 yard run back of a kick otf by Yeager, which was penalized, and a -IH yard run by Miller for the fourth touchdown. The annual Lykens battle on the Lykens field resulted in victory when the Indians trounced the Tigers li! to T. Both touchdowns were made by Miller, the first on a ten yard end run, the second on an eight yard end run. Lykens rolled up their seven points in the third quarter by a series of short passes. The following Saturday the Indians defeated the XYiconisco lads 58-li. Four touchdowns were scored in the first quarter with three successful kicks by Keiper. The first two six-pointers were scored by Lenker. the last two by Miller. In the third and fourth periods five more touchdowns were counted up with Schorr, Lenker. The first touchdown was made in the second quarter by Lenker in two hard drives from the tive yard line. In the same quarter a com- bination of I.enker and Yeager gained another six points for the Indians. The last touchdown was made when Tuffy ran 15 yards, making the final score 126-U. New Cumberland and Vamp Hill then downed the Indians in two hard fought games. The dis- play of an aerial offensive at Vamp Hill was excep- tional with Ellfl of all passes completed. Un November Ziird, the Williamstown eleven again journeyed to Millersburg for the annual Tur- key Day game and before a crowd of Zllfffl the ln- dians set the Williamstown lads back by a score of Ziff to fl. The first touchdown was tallied by Lenker after a 60 yard drive. The second was achieved through a lateral from Dockey to Lenker. Yeager then intercepted a pass which materialized into a touchdown by Dockey. Porter Township was next on the list of the Indians and on Ilecember 12nd the Millersburg eleven trounced their opponents ll!-H. The highlight of this game was a ninety-five yard run back by Lenker on the half-time kick-off, rolling up the tirst six points of the game. Altogether the Indians won six games and lost three. with a total of 195 points. This year several art exhibits from the Museum of Modern Art in New York have added to the interest in American paintings. For National Fook Week. the club arranged a window display in the business section of town. During the Christmas season, the club decorated the library beau- tifully and the English classes were invited to the library to listen to the records of Dicken's Clzristnzas Carol, to sing Christmas carols. and to hear stories of famous Madonna paintings. A Capella Choir Under the excellent direction ot' Miss Lucile F. Lenker, the choir composed of fifty-two selected voices has had a most successful year. Small groups from the choir have assisted in local church services. and the mixed ensemble visited the shut-ins of our community at Christ- mas time and sang carols for them.
