On September 6, 1950, forty-nine seventh grade pupils were informed that they were beginning a new venture as junior high stu- dents. Three girls from our class were in the high school band, thirteen boys were members of the junior high football team, which won every game, fourteen boys played on the junior high basketball team, and seven girls were guards of the school Safety Patrol. The girls in section one won second place in the window decorating contest held by the American Legion during Halloween. We topped all other classes in the American Junior Red Cross and magazine selling cam- paigns. Section one received The Thing , which turned out to be a rubber Indian doll, as a prize for placing first in the magazine contest, and Linda Roberts of our class re- ceived a radio for selling more subscriptions than anyone else in the school. We also stres- sed contributing to the March of Dimes in school. v
