The class managed a refreshment booth the night of the Halloween festivities, selling popcorn and cider. Later on battered text books were sporting shiny new green and white plastic covers sold by the sophomores. We also followed the custom of selling pencils with the basketball schedule printed on them. was ' 1- ,. . sam rat 'V A x 4- in ' k -' Y A W' I, ,-,v I V. 4 , w K X L I .gr- 'iz' ' or .' fl C i N ' I Lf' . Our class advisor is Mr. Thomas. When Coach Banks issued a call for football prac- tice last fall, eleven freshmen boys responded. Most of these boys saw action either in varsity games or in reserve games. Two of them, Gerald Deglar and Ray Miley, won their varsity M's. Our athletic prow- ess was also shown on the basketball court. Eleven of our number tried out for the winter sportg five of them made either the varsity or the reserve squad. vi Preszdent Vzce Pres We Gerald Dleger May Miller Ray Miley Alice Ritchey Dick Mackey Carol Snyder i fi? A majority of the class belongs to the high school mixed chorusg two members of our class, Patricia Roberts and Betsy Mast, belong to the marching band and to the dance bandg a number of girls joined the F.H.A.g and some of us have consistently made the honor roll. Another achievement of which we are justly proud was that of winning first prize in the window decorating contest held during the Hal- loween season. We made a good showing for the year by contributing twelve members to the junior high football team, and twelve members to the junior high basketball team. Both teams have made good records. For the first time our girls have organized teams in physical education. These teams are Dunahugh, Ray Van Sickle. j, under the direction of Miss Hanslik, super- visor of girls' physical education. Six members of our class are in the band, and two of them are drum majorettes. We have compiled an interesting and in- structive book on the history of Ohio, which we will contribute to the school, hoping that the oncoming eighth grades will make good use of it. On September 6, 1950, forty-nine seventh grade pupils were informed that they were beginning a new venture as junior high stu- dents. Three girls from our class were in the high school band, thirteen boys were members of the junior high football team, which won every game, fourteen boys played on the junior high basketball team, and seven girls were guards of the school Safety Patrol. The girls in section one won second place in the window decorating contest held by the American Legion during Halloween. We topped all other classes in the American Junior Red Cross and magazine selling cam- paigns. Section one received The Thing , which turned out to be a rubber Indian doll, as a prize for placing first in the magazine contest, and Linda Roberts of our class re- ceived a radio for selling more subscriptions than anyone else in the school.
