A voice says, NQuiet.m We're on the air.m A f fx ,1 switch is turned, an announcement is made, and the orchestra if begins to play a merry, fantastic dance tune. The leader 4 F-1 introduces a delightful piano solo into the midst of the 51 selections I see him clearly. It is Don J. Elick, the ra- ig dio favorite of the next decade. q The scene shifts to the display room of a large gown 1 14 establishment. A fashion show is in progress. I watch tho- Q manikins strut about the-platform. One of them is except- 2 ionally graceful and wears her evening' gown well It is Cath erine Border, the chief manikin or model of the establishment f She is known asee woman of the world ' The mis s blot out the scene, and when they clear away, . the ground is cove ed sith ice and snow The wlnd walls 1 through who tall sentinel pines A figure rides toward me' 5 He wears a stunning uniform He looks handsome, and he seemsj to know t H stops tis horse and reads a sign offering ' many thousand dollar reward for the capture of Faye Dansdil at large in the Canadian fore t He smiles and says, mThe mounties always get thei woman ' He is one of those rom antic he roes, a Nor lwest Mounted Policeman As he rides nearer, recognize him It is Bob Perrin, more handsome than ever Hcv strange' I see a room in gre t disorder and a man down on all four , looking at the rug th otgh a magnifying glass Tn one pocket 15 a notebook labeled 'Clues N In the othe is a pair of H3DdCuffS He acts very peculiarl New he rLses He turns oward me, ard I recognize him It is Ha old Foubert This is the re ult ci the mys ery stories he wa always reading i new a detective Again the mi t close down when they r e again, it is three oqclock in the mornirg P huge truck comes down the city street and pauses at the janitorls entrance of each apartmen house A man delivers a rack of milk bottles and driv s on down the street It is Gordan 'lubb, prop rietor and owner of a large dairy farm, making the delivery himself, just for fun 1 remember that in the old days he alwav liked to sit up all night with Doris, and that un doubtedly explains his choice of occupation As a milkman he can ride around town all night with his honey without fear of inquiring glance from policemen or night watchman He 4s happy at last and making money as well And now I see a lovely college town There is a va t crowd in the chapel A new president of the college is be ing inauvurated Here he comes, looking most impressive in his cap and gown He ds received with marked enthusiasm and appears to be enjoy'ng limself immen ely It is our studious schoolmete, Don Cheney wouldn't you expect him 'W -4 Q A . Her 2 HAdvice to the Lovelornh became the most famous syndicated 1 newspaper article series in the world. we are proud to ,R have such a celebrity in the class of 'h9. ' Now the scene changes to the Heel and Toe Club in New l York City. Its featuring a premiere danseuse of the Russ- 4 ,I '1 ian Dancers, the Chinese Ballet, and the Topeka Tap Dancers. 2 Then the mist shifts to the interior where there is someone 3 giving a performance of the grapevine glide. It is Patrice Q Brennan who has always been famous for her originality of 1 dances. Her hobby has always been the prevention of corns. 1 New my crystal ball takes me to the Col-seum at Rome, 3 where there is a contest for the world's heavyweight champ 5 ion, sponsored by the International Stock Hrchange, in pro l gre s There is a left jab to the tomach, now a hook to Q the jaw, a quick upperctt with a familiar figure behind 4 fhose powerhouse blows The referee is holding up a muscle bound arm It is Eugene Herdlisxa, heavy weight champion of the world I hear tinkling guitars and the surf breaking on a coral strand I see bright hued blossoms and tall palm tree Happy brown skinned people are singing plaintive melodics Fveryone seems happy and at leisure War off in the distance are the whlte sails of a fishing boat is Hawaii, a paradise for the lndolert A figure approaches under a huge white parasol It is a young woman As she smiles I recognize her It is Janet Bauer Her one aim has always been to see the world and we are glad to see she has realized her dream Tn tae cool, clear waters of the North Sea I seo a yacht lying at anchor Across it deer sweeps tae invigor ating air of the polar regions On the deck, sailors are completing the davgs cleaning The brass rails shine like gold, and the deck chairs are luxuriously upholstered This yacht must belong to a millionaire Its name, Ngllers bu g, maxes me think the owner must be an acouaintance of ours A :ery substantial figure now appears on deck and scans his surroundings with an approving eye He beckons to a stcmard and says, 'Tell the captain we'll sail for Mille sburg to morrow I have some old friends there I'd like to see before I start round the world again ' I know hls voice Th's a frierd of ours It is Earle Hall, a multimil onaire I read a radiogram that lies on the table owned a series of fillirg stations for both cars and air craft and made enough money to retire ir ten years after 4 he began Earle always was an ambitious boy and fond of the 4 3 . . 2. - 4 -A S . Lighted Christmas trees and snow decorated the bleachers and Santa's sleigh and rein- Q deer running toward a large tree on the stage. Candy canes j were placed under the tree and were passed out as favors 4 later in the evening. 3 Invitations were sent to the following schools: Deep A River, North English, Williamsburg, Webster, and Conroy. 3 On account of other school activities and not having a t 54 way to come, there weren't any of these towns present ex- f cept for a few from Williamsburg. S The HMelodiersH from Keota furnished very good dance 1 music for an enjoyable evening of dancing. Cards and check- 2 ers were enjoyed by those who did not dance. 5 9 ? v Two Box Socials 1 91 3 An evening of old fashioned entertainment was enjoyed M A when the Seniors sponsored a box social to raise money for f the Christmas Dance The Senior Class rendered their own 1 arrangement of WJust Because' and there were several other groups who furnished entertainment After this the boxes were autioned off, the proceeds of which gave us a net amount of 325 Everyone agreed that it was a success Later in the school year the Seniors sponsored another box social for the purpose of raising money to go to Chicago on their class trio The program was enjoyed by everyone Pat Brennar and Earle Hall sang ' Love Somebodyn, the Sopho mores put or a one act play 'The Little Red Schoolhouseh the Girls Sextette sang The Bells of St Marysn, and an old fashioned spell down occurred among the audience The approximate amount taken in was 518 Christmas Program The M llersburg Music Depar+ment presented a Christmas program on the night of December 19 in the school gym The band and glee club were combined to present the musical numbers The opere a, 'Christmas of the Shepherdsn, in eluded the glee clus and soloists The traditioral carols and other Chrl tmas songs were presented The stage was set with Llue lights, which revealed the Wiseman, Mary, Joseph, and the Christ child Also included in the cast were a group of carollers Norman Jordan, Don Smfth, Earle Hall, Bob Roggentine, Audrey Sauter, and Gertru Schultz we1e soloists with the g cup Following the program, the b nd played a medley of Catherine Bender feats ed as oloists The followlng numbers were presented 'They Sang That I I . 41 I 7 v tj U 4 ' .n ' Q 1 , 4' ,.
