Class officers were: President, Wendell Bailey; Vice-president, Terry Zollinger; Secretary, Gretchen Honderich; Treasurer. Nancy Prough; Student Council, Janice Yoder and Charles Rink. We chose our class flower, white carnation; class colors, mint green and black. We were quite proud of our class sweaters which were mint green, with black letters trimmed in white. The success of our first money-making project, the cake sale, made us even prouder with a prof- ' it of $128. ' Our first class party was a Halloween Party at Karen Dukes home and our second was an ice skating party at Terry Zollinger ' s home. : We lost quite a few students our sophomore year as we started out with only twenty -one students. i The following students were elected to serve our class: President, Alta Fisher; Vice-President, Terry Zollinger; Secretary-Treasurer, Nancy Prough; Student Council, Janice Yoder and Wendell Bailey. ! We sold cards this year, making a profit of $540.40. Our class party for the first semester was on November 7, 1959, for a swimming party at the YMCA at Elkhart. The second class party was a bowling party at the Shamrock Bowling Lanes. We were off to a roaring start for our junior year with our class officers: President, Sharon Nisley; Vice-President, Dianne McClain; Secretary, Janice Yoder; Treasurer, Nancy Prough; Student Council, Wendell Bailey and Sharon Nisley. i We sold Magazines making a profit of $564. Our class Party for the first semester was a scavenger hunt at Dianne McClain ' s home. Our second class party was a bowling party at the Pladium Bowling Lanes. We met after the party for supper at the Olympic. We presented our first class play this year, Here Comes Charlie . We had a profit of $269.22. We then planned the hi -lite of our junior year, The Junior and Senior Prom . We used Oriental as the theme. We ate supper at Millers Country Restaurant, planned an interesting program at the Masonic Temple, then we danced to the music of the Four Downbeats from Michigan. Now we are in our final year. We elected class officers for the last time: President, Janice Yoder; Vice-President, Wendell Bailey; Secretary, Linda Hartsough; Treasurer, Nancy Prough; Student Council, Sharon Nisley and Bob Bowley. We presented the play Let Me Out Of Here with a profit of $200. I l! We are looking forward to the prom to be given to us by the juniors, especially our Senior Trip, and of course our commencement. We only have 18 in our class now. We ' re small but we ' re all great pals and we will always remem- ber our good times at M.H.S. And, I just return- ed from the most interesting trip for promoting our line of products that I have ever taken. With a little work, other than for the company, I was able to find out where all my former classmates are. Here ' s the story of my trip with the details of how and where I found my classmates. While waiting for my plane I read in the ' Los Angles Times that Robert Eugene Bowrlby II had been sentenced to the Local Loony Prison at the North Pole for the crime of overparking on County Road 17. I decided to visit Bob and when I reached the North Pole 1 went to a small restaurant called the Little Red Bus Stop for a snack, and there Betty Perrin was working. As I ate my lunch she told me about her adventures while at the North Pole. 1 then asked her for directions to the prison, which she gladly gave me and told me to prepare for a shock. The shock came when I met the warden who turned out to be our own Linda Hartsough! Linda and 1 talked for quite awhile relating the good tales we readily remembered about our school days at Millersburg High School. She had Bob sent to the office, and we both watched his surprised expression when he saw me. After a nice chat, I knew I had to say goodby and hurry on. Next, I took a plane to Chicago, Illinois. In the evening I decided to take in a game of the Globetrotter ' s. Much to my surprise, and probably to yours too, Grover Lockwood was their coach. Later, Grover told me Leroy Sharp was quite successful as the bartender at the Burp-N- Bubble Bar. He then gave me Leroy ' s-phone number, and I called him. We talked for awhile, but he had to hang up for his number-one customer and Chicago ' s number-one beatnik, Charles Rink, had just come in. 1 bade Grover a fair well as I could stay no longer. New York was now beckoning. One night while in N. Y. , 1 ran into Wendell Bailey on the street. Wer were surprised to see each other, and we had a very nice talk. He told me he was a marriage counsellor. We made a date for dinner the next evening, and 1 was flabbergasted when he showed up with Terry Zollinger, one of New York ' s finest Mounted Policemen. We had a wonderful chat. The next day Terry showed me the town he also showed me some of the sights by night. Then, regretfully, I had to leave New York but looked forward to my next stop which v ould be Millersburg. When I arrived, a taxi was waiting, and I was tickled that the driver happened to be Sharon Nisley. Sharon had quite a business for herself by giving guided tours around Millersburg. After a brief visit Sharon told me that Alta Fisher was a hair specialist for moon men. My visit ?as cut short but nice to be able to come back to our ol ' Alma Mater. While touring the State of Kentucky, 1 attended a horse race, and 1 sa Vernon Sheley get- ting ready for the race. We only had a few minutes to talk but he said he was having a very promising year as a jockey. I v-zent on to Tennessee where 1 found Ron Stiver, a hillbilly preacher. He told me he had married Dianne McClain and her husband. He informed me that Dianne was quite prosperous as the mother of thirteen kids. I could harlly believe it, so I decided to visit Dianne. When 1 arrived I was surprised to find Eva Sark there also. Eve is now a hook-worm specialist, and Di- anne ' s kids give her plenty of practice as they are always running around barefooted. We had a nice talk but a short one as 1 had to leave in order to catch my plane. 1 boarded my plane for Florida and settled back to read the paper. I was surprised to see Nancy Prough ' s name in print. She is the author of a daily love-lom column. 1 was sorry I hadn ' t known that she lived in Atlanta, but it was too late to g o back. I arrived in Miami and heard that the Ring-ling Bros. Circus had just come to town. As I hadn ' t attended a circus for a long time, I decided to see it. 1 walked past the lion ' s cage and lo and behold, there was Ivan Rockenbaugh; he was now a lion tamer. Ivan took me to see the evening ' s performance and there was Karen Dukes, a flying trapeze artist. We had a hard time trying to explain why we should be allowed to go back stage but finally we made it. 1 was so afraid for Karen, but when she came down we had a nice reunion and she wasn ' t the least bit worried about her exciting career. Well, Mr. Stevens, my only regret is not being able to come visit you and see your reac- tions to the surprising careers of my classmates. The Student Council opened the year with fifteen members. During the year the Council sponsored the Christmas party and some special assemblies. They were also in charge of the checkroom and the Pep Club. Mr. Hennry Maar presented a program to the student body using ordinary picnic and circus ballons to create Disney animals, lovely swans and many other mystifying tricks with balloons. Mr. Orville Fitzgerald presented an amazing program showing evidence of his ability to recall names and details. With the help of members of the audience he shows how others can do what he does with such Uttle practice. This year baseball was dropped and cross country was moved to a major sport. The Mil- lers had a good season this year losing only two meets in official two mile run, and placing in the cross country relay, and 2nd in the finals at Elkhart. Under the pitching of Joe Phillips the Millers started their climb for victory. Later the Millers scheduled more games and wound up the season with 50% wins. Top five runners were Rick Keim, Bob Fisher, Steve Fisher, Bud Virgil, Bob Stiver. Baseball was discontinued this fall because cross country was placed as a major sport.
