Miss Mary Shaffer judged the readings. There were six contestants: Lowell McGill, Carolyn Saggars, Katha Kuhn, Gladys Kauffman, Louise Smith, and Rachel Hersh- berger. q Mr, Merle Shanklin judged the orations, The two contestants were Mary Jo Smith and Esther Showalter, The first prize winners of each contest received a gold metal and 35.00 in cash, A silver metal and g2,5O in cash was given to the second prize winner, The third prize winners received a bronze metal.
