The goals of the FFA are to develop leadership, citizenship, and an increased know- ledge of agriculture. The area we are concerned with is that of Agriculture Resources Conservation. The FHA goal is to help individual growth through discovery, involvement, chang, awareness, and an unuerstanaing ol self, family, school, and community. The local theme this year has been Bridge Over Troubled Waters. The goals of FBLA are to develop strong business leadership, create intelli- gent choice of business occupations, encourage training for useful citi- zenship, and mostly to encourage each member to set and strive to meet individual goals to the best of his ability. Future Teachers of America Club has a major goal to promote the teaching profession. Each student in the club has the responsibility to learn the duties and obligations of a classroom teacher. The club member obtains these goals through observations, experiences „nd experimentation. Some of our activities this year have been tutoring poorer students, substitut- ing for absent teacher teachers aids, and organizing a field ex- perience day to let each member experience a day of teaching. The Bertha Levion Chapter of the National Honor Society was formed in 1962 to encourage the growth of scholarship, leadership, service, and character among the high school students of the South- ern Local District. The chapter has purchased for the school two mobile carts for audio visual equipment, donated $600 to the school sign fund and paid a total of $558 toward the purchase of the speaker system used for football games at Harrop Field. The mon- ey for these projects has been raised primarily through a Tom Watt sales campaign each year. Choir is the high school singing organization. It consists of males and fe- males who enjoy the fun and challenge of singing. Each year we are sched- uled to give Thanksgiving and Christmas assemblies. In the spring we present a concert of pop music and participate in gradua- tion exercises. Upon re- quest, we sometimes perform at various school functions and community activities. Drama class is a general introduction to all as- pects of the theater; in- cluding play interpreta- tion, costume design, set design, make up, and lighting. The first semes- ter each student put to- gether a production book conveying all the things listed above. The club gave one production each semester, including the Christmas show and the spring show. Both of these were written by the drama class. The greatest objective and the most challenging goal for the band is to grow in size and in play- ing ability. We have just re-organized this year af- ter a four lapse of an in- strumental program, and have worked very hard just trying to catch up . The band has grown from 21 members to 35 and with the addition of seventh and eighth grad- ers, we hope to have 50 on the field by next marching season. Publications The goals of the publication class are to get the yearbook to the publishers and to put out the school newspaper. This year we went back to the bigger yearbook and we have added color. All of this costs money and we obtained most of this through our Mardi Gras and the selling of greeting cards.
