...J Senior Class HE class oT I935 oT GreaT Neck High School is The TirsT class To compleTe iTs Junior and Senior High School sTudies in The presenT new building on Polo Road. FurThermore, iT is The largesT class ThaT has ever been graduafed Trom The GreaT Neck High School. These TacTs make The class oT l935 a memorable one, indeed. The Senior Class, in accordance wiTh The precedenT seT in pasT years, organized iTselT, elecTed oTTicers, and held regular meeTings. The oTTicers elecTed in The Tall by The I55 members oT The class were: PresidenT, Cornelius J. Tyson Jr.: Vice-PresidenT, Bruce lvlinnickg and SecreTary-Treasurer, Rex Lardner. Dues oT Ten cenTs a week were voTed, and The class carried ouT several proiecTs ThroughouT The year. The mosT imporTanT acTiviTy oT The Senior Class each year is The publishing oT The year-book, The ArisTa. AlThough obiecTions were raised To The conTinuaTion oT This cosTly eTTorT, The members OT The class unanimously voTed To publish The book. ln response To The senTimenT ThaT The expenses oT a Senior were unnecessarily high, The ArisTa Board reduced The assessmenTs which Seniors were asked To pay. ln The annual elecTion oT The all-imporTanT PresidenT oT The STudenT Council, Dudley Saunders was chosen by his schoolmaTes To hold This oTTice. As The TwelTTh grade represenTaTives To The STudenT Council, The class elecTed Eleanor Campbell and William Goss. In This connecTion, menTion should be made oT an innovaTion on The parT oT The Council which may be said To have been a resulT oT The growing desire Tor special recogniTion and privileges Tor Seniors. This is a supper-dance To which all members oT The Senior Class were inviTed by The STudenT Council. All expenses were meT by The Council, and The class was indeed graTeTul Tor The esTablishmenT OT such a worThy precedenT. IT was also deTermined ThaT a Senior Prom should be held on a nighT close To graduaTion, which occurred This year on Monday, June 24. The valedicTorian was CaTherine Grady, and The SaluTaTorian, Cornelius Tyson. AppoinTmenTs were made To The NaTional Honor SocieTy, and The Elks' Club and Scholarship Fund CommiTTee Scholarships were awarded. Members oT The class, in sTaTing Their inTended acTiviTies Tor nexT year, were mosT conTidenT oT The TuTure. Many plan To aTTend colleges or scienTiTic schools. Once again, GreaT Neck High School sends TorTh Trom iTs proTecTive porTals a group of well-Trained young men and women. Their Alma lvlaTer wishes ThaT Their ideals may be preserved, and ThaT They may experience success To The Tull. 22

There is always a feel- ing, as each year's graduafes leave fhe school, fhaf we are parfing from friends we have come fo cherish buf whom we shall see again all foo infrequenfly. This feeling foward you is infensified in many ways. You enfered fhe four years. normally considered as high school, af fhe same 'rime fhaf l came fo Greaf Neck High School. We have shared considerable change and developmenf. During fhaf period fhe High School has nearly doubled in size: you are by far fhe largesf group ever fo graduafe from fhe insfifufion: you have been fhe leaders in esfablishing many signi- ficanf acfivifies in fhe School-an able sfudenf council. fhe Spring Fesfival, fhe Radio Show, fhe G. A. A., fhe Adverfising Agency, an ever expanding boys' infra-mural program, efc. Wifh if all you have sef a mosf high sfandard of scholarship, when bofh your leaders have averages of over 96. We shall miss you, buf we shall always be proud of you, welcome you back when- ever you can come fo your High School, and rejoice in fhe successes you deserve and will affain.
