Spring Flings 67 118 19S7 me ANN MCANN would like to present to you the 1986-1987 school year. Within these pages are teachers, classmates, teams, organizations, and friends. After you've looked through this annual, you'll realize the pictures alone will tell you our story of success! It takes all of the above to make what we've established this past year, and the MCANN staff is proud to present it to you! SENIORS Seniora, here’s all the memories! For the past 4 years, we’ve travel- ed a (stone) road of good times and bad, and now we’ve hit the stop sign. These pages represent the friendships and even the frustra- tions we’ve had together. When this book is closed, the memories we’ve created in high school won’t be forgotten. They’re kept in our everyday thoughts to keep us close while we’re off in the big world. With all the smiles, hugs, and pile ups, I doubt there will ever be a class closer than this. Once in Chicago, they viaited many placea, went swimming in the hotel, or worked out in the equipment room. They atayed in the Hilton Hotel, which ia to be conaidered one of the claaaieat hotela in Chicago. The follow ing day, after everyone (at leaat almoat everyone) got a good nighta aleep, they ate breakfast at the Mariott Hotel, and were off to the Muaetim of Science and Industry. Thia was where, not the atudenta, but the teachers were late getting back to the bua at the deaignated time! The day ended with watching a baaeball game at Raniaki Park. The Seniora finally returned back to MC around 4:00 a.m. May 10th. I ihink we could at least fit 10 more on here. 8 Tell us how cute we are! GRADUATION Graduation commencement for the Claw of 1987 was held on May 29th. This was a time for remembering times of laughter, tears, success, pile ups, smiles, and most of all close friendships. As the Class of 1987 graduated, it was probably one of the biggest steps they had to take, but they know if they ever need a friend, any of their classmates will be there for them with a warm hug, a hand to hold, or just a smile to brighten their day. There were many memories made of the night, even if it was “If Only For A Night!” MARCHING BAND The Miller City High School Marching Band had a truly memorable Hummer in 1986. After months of sweltering prac- tice we marched at Cedar Point and even in Miller City. We could be seen at the Defiance Halloween Parade and we per- formed in Powell, Ohio. We entertained with favorites “Smokin’ In The Boys Room” and “Walking On Sunshine.” The band would like to thank Mr. Powell and all of our loyal fans for their support. OFFICERS STATE COUATY BAND CHOIR Once again this years members of the county music department joined to make beautiful music together. The practices were held at Bluffton College and an afternoon performance was given at Continental High School. It was a learning but enjoyable experience for all. The Seniors will always carry a part of it with them. The State Band Members gathered for a couple of weeks in the summer to practice for performances at various places. They performed at the Ohio State Fair, where there were many friends and memories made. Upper Left: Band Officers: left to right-President Anne Recker, Vice President Sandy Ruhe. CON CEB T PEP This year the pep band ventured to Defiance and Findley Colleges for their games with the Bluffton Beavers. They had fun jamming out to “China Grove” and “Take Me Home.” They showed their state spirit with the Ohio State fight song, “Across the Field” followed by “Hang On Sloopy.” The concert band was a very excellent group this year. They provided a very entertaining Christmas concert for the public. Something new for the band was playing for the elementary and high school students and faculty. This was an enjoyable experience for the band and audience. They also provided a Spring Concert at which the Seniors were recognized for their years of dedicated service. Rumor has it they counted on food for thought. This tactic, may have been what led the team to a third place rank- ing emerging from league action. At the county tournament the team really show- ed their stufT. After an initial defeat in the first round, they rallied, smashing team after team until stopped in the final round where they settled for 2nd place. The Juniors prepared a very beautiful prom, which consisted of many balloons, and many other very eye catching features. John Lammers and Sandy Inkrott reigned over the prom as they were chosen Prom King and Queen. 1st attendants were Jane Schroeder and Jeff Cerdeman. 2nd attendants were Sandy Kuhe and Mike Oedy. The Seniors would like to thank the Juniors for a very special night, one that they’ll never forget! There’s always at least one court fool! Queen Sandy Inkrott 1st attendants Jeff Cerdeman and Jane Schroeder Over the years, the Miller City FFA has proved to he one of the most prestigious organizations in school. Mr. Steve Peck signed in as the new Vo-Ag teacher this 86-87 school year. He’s determined to let the county know just how great our chapter is. We strongly sug- gest that the incoming Freshmen take a good strong look at Vo-Ag and FFA. You don’t have to be a farmer to fit in. Mr. Peck has a degree in agri-business and we’re sure he will open up a new category in the FFA especially for this. So join the FFA and develop those qualities of leadership which a future farmer should possess. Left lo right: Row 1 Sentinel Roy Wenzinger, Secretary Oran Verhoff, Treasurer Russ Wenzinger. Everyone wan disappointed when we lost to Delphos St. John’ in tournament. The Seniors were especially disappointed because this tournament fell on their senior trip, so the players were unable to go to Chicago. When you’re struggling, you need some breaks to help you out, we didn’t get many. Of course, we always had our cheerful and unbeliev- ably talented stats to keep things running smoothly. We seniors will be taking two stats and five players from the team, but there are talented underclassmen waiting to fill the ranks and we want to see the spring team of 1988go all the way! Coach Zender also realized that not everyone appreciates his coaching ability, mainly second and third basemen from whose school we’d rather not reveal. All in all the year was fun and we wish next years team, including Mr. Zender, the best of luck. 79 SPORTS The Tear at a Glance Varsity 166 Ft. Jennings 162 199 Van Wert 162 Kalida 181 162 Ft. The planning for prom began the first week of school with everyone coming up with ideas and working on the magazine drive. The ideas were saved for the prom meetings, where they were con- sidered with care. Although the Junior Class didn't always get a lot of work done at these meetings, they did become closer as a class. The Junior Year is one filled with deci- sions about the future and life. The Juniors managed to make these deci- sions and had fun doing it. As Freshmen, we became more involved in many activities such as field day and the high school dances. Also we would like to thank the teachers and up- perclassmen for making 1986-87 a great year for us.
