Graduation Because of the baseball state tournaments, the graduation this year was postponed from May 31 to June 7. This event made the year even more special for the Seniors. After the processional into the gym, the Seniors sang their class song, Let's Celebrate.” Following their song Kevin Barlage gave the welcome speech. Next came the slide presentation, which showed scenes of the Seniors throughout the year. Carol Barlage then gave an in- spiring farewell. After this Mr. hammers made a few comments about the class and Mr. Wm. Hermiller Jr., President of the School Board, presented the diplomas to the students. 20 Following the receiving of diplomas, Class President Kris Oedy led the class in changing the tassels from right to left. Kris then handed the class funds over to Mr. Kreinbrink. He made a few comments and the graduates proceeded out, not just out- side but into a life where they will go where their destiny leads them. We wish these graduates the best of luck in their future endeavors and congratulate them on their 13 years of success.

It was 6:00 a.m. and believe it or not, the Seniors were up at school. They weren't waiting for their classes to begin, but they were waiting for the Lakefront Trailway Bus to arrive for their overnight trip to the Windy City! But as usual the bus was late, so they jammed out with their ghetto blasters until the bus showed up. Once in Chicago, the Seniors saw such points of interest as The Museum of Science and Industry, The Museum of Natural History, Billy Goat Tavern, and The Sears Tower. Before seeing a dinner show called Shear Madness, the Seniors dined at Ben- nigan's. They also went on the elevated train and attended a baseball game between the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers. The Class of '85 stayed at the Marriot, a very nice hotel which had tennis courts, a swimming, and a whirlpool. It included a delicious breakfast buffet for Saturday morning. The bus ride to and from Chicago was the scene of many ac- tivities — jamming out to the ever-blasting rock and roll, trying to catch up on sleep lost the night before, and even that un- forgettable card game on the way home. The Seniors all had a blast on their two-day adventure. They were very proud to be the first class in 20 years to have an overnight class trip. 19
