We, the Senior Class of 1959, are pleased to dedicate this annual to Miss Lillian Doepker, the capable fifth and sixth grade teacher at New Cleveland. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to have been one of her pupils realize that she, as a teacher, not only prepares her pupils for the upper grades, but also helps them prepare for a wholesome life after graduation. After Miss Doepker graduated from Ottawa S.P.P.S. Elementary School and Ottawa Public High School, she went on to Bowling Green State University where she took the courses necessary to become a teacher. She also attended Toledo Teachers College. Miss Doepker began her teaching career on October 30, 1917, when she began tea- ching the first five grades in Palmer Township. Later on, upon completion of the present New Cleveland School Building, she moved to the new building where she taught the fifth and sixth grades which she is doing yet to this very day. When we stop to think of all the good qualities a teacher such as Miss Doepker has, we, as seniors, cannot help but think that if our futures are successful, it will be because we have acquired some of these wonderful qualities which she displays in her every day teaching. In conclusion, the Seniors of 1959 would like to say, Thanks to you. Miss Doepker, for being an inspiration to us all.
