For the majority of us these riches began to play a role in our lives as our class started to form in September of 1973. Being freshmen in high school was somewhat different from what we were used to. Now there were more responsibilities that required our undivided attention. During that year, we had no class advisor nor any class sponsored activities. However, we did elect class officers. Those elected were Walter Jordan as President, Kevin Wells as Vice-President, Cheryl Keith as Secretary, and Dena Wooden as Treasurer. Many of the little mistakes that we made were overlooked because being freshmen and introduced to a new set of rules and regulations, we really didn’t seem to know any better. Some of us still haven’t learned. Getting out at 12:30 left the afternoon for partying or whatever else came to mind at the time. Summer came and went all too quickly and we were right back here for another year. Having a whole year of getting away with many things seemed to make our sophomore year just a little bit more difficult than the year before. It seemed as though the faculty had summer meetings to decide how they could get even with us for all the mischievous acts committed during our first year. Now on top of the responsibilities which we had just adjusted to, there were all kinds of restrictions as well. Other than that, our sophomore year wasn’t so much different from our freshmen. Once again we chose class officers. Voted in were Joanne Francis as President, Bob Hall as Vice-President, Robin Wackell as Secretary, and Maureen Foley as Treasurer. Appointed as our first class advisor was Mrs. Griffin. Under her advisement we sponsored the annual Donkey Basketball Game. It was the first one to be organized by a Sophomore class. Even more important than that, she supported us during our ring campaign. Ordered were rings of every color from the traditional school colors of maroon and white, to colors that best suited individual tastes. Later in the year under a new advisor, Mrs. Anderson, our class presented the school with a dance featuring a group called STARFIRE. In addition to this, a car-wash, bake-sale was arranged for the day before Easter. Those that participated made all those activities worth while. Time passed quickly that year and before we knew it summer rolled around again. In September of 1975, we returned for our third year and it was entirely different from the previous two. This time we returned to a discipline code and a longer day, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Now we had a whole new routine to get used to. Maybe the schoo! committee got tired of having sinks, doors, and tiles repaired among other things. During that year many class sponsored activities were assembled under the tremendous advisement of Miss Defeudis, and once again class officers were elected. Those voted in were Steven Duso as 101 102 President, Joanne Francis as Vice-President, Robin Wackell as Secretary, and Maureen Foley as Trea- surer. The activities for the year included a dance featuring American Standard, an unusual but inter- esting light bulb sale, two candy sales, a bake craft sale, a tremendous class effort in winning the murals contest with our olympic seal, and finally our Jr. Prom which was held on May 21st, 1976 at Maironis Park in Shrewsbury. The band was Dark Horse and even though they didn’t know our theme song, Precious and Few, they were still pretty good. Lisa Swedburg was chosen as queen, and her court consisted of Joanne Bianculli, Cheryl Keith, Tamara Anderson, Lynne Aubrey, Robin Wackell, and Sheila Moquin. Being our Bicenntenial Year seemed to bring more color and interest to our ac- tivities. This year we did many things that will always be looked back on and never forgotten. Such things as our Senior Supper at the William Paul House, our Christmas Ball at the Elmwood Street Cafetorium, the volley-ball, basketball game where the girls in the class and the male faculty members won, our class trip to the fabulous Oak Spruce Resort in the Berkshire Mountains, a car-wash, bake-sale, two dances, one of which featured ‘‘Firehouse’’ with Jay Huchowski, Danny Chasse, and Walter Jordon, class day, awards night, a halloween party, a Christmas Bazaar, and last but not least our graduation. Our class officers, President Joanne Francis, Vice-President Robin Scott, Secretary Lisa Swedberg, and Treasurer Maureen Foley along with class advisor Mrs. Sylvia Stepien (Brakett) and year book advisor Mr. David Wilbur deserve a lot of credit for their wonderful jobs, time, and effort. Our congratulations go to all of the members of our class who have maintained a position in the National Honor Society. Over the entire four years that we’ve been at Millbury High many of us partici- pated in sports, our annual magazine drive and many of the clubs that the school offered such as French, science, photography and others that were available. A lot of money was raised over the last two years thanks to the cooperation of many members of the class, which made it possible for a yearbook different from our predecessors yet containing all of the memories that we will value in years to come. Along with them, Mr. Drake and Mr. Roach are to be congratulated for making it through these four years with us and having the courage to continue on. Dr. Sylvia and Mr. Garabedien, who made it possible for all our money making activities also have our thanks, as do the rest of the faculty and administration for the encouragement and assistance they have given us over the past four years. Our High School years are now over and all of our ties with Millbury High will soon be broken. However, even though we may not have shown it too frequently, we all appreciate what Millbury High has given us and we will carry its riches with us forever.
