Homecoming 1966 Everyone had been anticipating the 1966 Home- coming for many weeks because it was our last home game, the last to be played on our present field. Weeks before, the student body decided on the girls who would represent each class on Homecoming night. Finally it arrived, October 28, the 1966 Homecom- ing. The school day was completed with an enthusi- astic pep rally. Our Wildcat team played a tremendous game against the visiting Clayton Comets, but this was not enough. The game ended with a 26-0 defeat for our team. During the magical half time the nine lovely girls and their escorts were introduced. The crowd hushed as the co -captains, Julian Riddly and Charles Gower, paced from one Senior girl to the next. As Barbara Brown was crowned our 1966 Homecoming Queen and was presented with her bouquet and kiss from the co -captains, the crowd gave her a standing ovation. A blissful mood prevailed as everyone attended the dance honoring the Queen and her court after the game. Yet the thoughts of defeat and the last home game touched the hearts of many, especially the SENIORS. Barbara Brown is crowned by our co -captains.
