Students relax on the grass after lunch. Opportunities Broaden Scope; “What’s that?” Students often find Mrs. Curtis’ study hall to be quite interesting. Time before school and after lunch provides an opportunity for students to relax and socialize, while the library and study hall provide an in- centive for initiative. This is a year of continuing growth for the library. Many new and donated books have been received, and the magazines have been arranged in coherent order in the library’s new Princeton files. They now provide a quick and easy source of reference. Millbrook has pioneered the record collection, being the first school in the county to begin one. As a re- 8

Enhance Interest suit, the record room is always in use, a fa- vorite target for study hall students. Students with earphones listen to the strains of Beethoven and, more often, Peter, Paul, and Mary. Mean- while, other students check out books and magazines or work on research papers. Study hall provides a similar opportunity as the library, but it doesn’t seem to be quite so popular. Students study unfinished assign- ments, start whispered gossip, and sometimes play practical pranks behind the teacher’s back. The library provides a quiet, restful atmosphere for study.
