BUSINESS AND VOCATIONAL The boys in agriculture learn many trades that will be very valuable to them in a few years, one of these being welding. Here, Wayne Holliday demonstrates acetylene welding to some boys in his second period ag class. Our Distributive Education Club has made very good showings at the conventions in the past few years. In November, this year ' s was held in Roxboro. Beforehand, Mrs. Berry helped by telling her classes some of the things they would have to do in the presence of the judges. Mr. Winborne leads his FFA boys in learn- ing many kinds of work that will develop and increase their skills. These skills will be a good guidance in the years before them whether it is personal work or a career in public service. 15

TODAY S AND TOMORROW S LEADERS IN The girls taking third year home economics have had a six weeks course this year on baby care. Here a few of the girls look on as Mrs. Hill, the demonstrator, uses a doll to show them how to bathe such a small thing. As Mrs. Pendleton strives to stress the im- portance of calcium in the body, she uses charts so that the home economics students might get the full meaning of this vitamin and what it does. Here, she points out the calcium content of cheese. Practice makes perfect, says Mrs. Reese to her Typing I students. They have to do a lot of it in order to have better speed and fewer errors. Some wonder how much prac- tice it does take. 14

SOCIAL STUDIES FOR A BETTER FUTURE Mr. Cobb has a full time job teaching the two history classes as well as being assistant Principal. Here he leads the world history class in an open discussion on the Renaissance before the telecast. We, as citizens of the United States, should recognize and understand our rights and duties of citizenship. Civics deals with this problem and helps Millbrook students get acquainted with what they face as future citizens. The study of economics deals with the laws affecting the production, distribution, and consumption of wealth. This will help the students have a better understanding of their personal financial problems as well as their country’s. 16
