VMHM To Mrs. Mary Sears Johnston, who, during our junior and senior years, has set before us ideals far too high for us to reach, yet has never tired of encouraging us to keep trying; who has herself set an example of the best in scholarship, in culture, and in Christian love and patience, we, the class of 1954, lovingly dedicate this edition of The Laurel. As our high school career daily hastens to an end, we think of the many treasured memories formed at our Alma Mater. One that will forever linger is our school song with its challenging words. In this yearbook the staff has endeavored to blend together our song and a record of our school activities according to this Table of Contents DEDICATION ADMINISTRATION CLASSES ACTIVITIES FEATURES ATHLETICS GRADES ADVERTISEMENTS W VW editor-in-chief
