7 -:;..;'.z.,4.w i . . gm ?wzaw On September 6, 1950, we, the future seniors of Millbrook High, under the guidance of MISS OLIVE, began our climb up the ladder of high school and education. To most people, the begin- ning of a task is the most difficult and to us the four years which lay ahead looked very dim indeed. As the year advanced, we became interested in our new adventure and came to enjoy the year to- gether. We gained two new personalities in the per- sons of GERALDINE FREEMAN from Georgia and IRENE WRIGHT from Rolesville. Regretfully, we lost several of our original classmates. Those who left our class were: ROBERT BOYETTE, LIBBY BRIDGES, FRANCES CLIFTON, BOBBY DEAN, BILLIE MAE JONES, BOBBY NICHOLS, DORO- THY NORWOOD, MARY JO POOLE, HARVEY WEATHERS, and HAZEL WILMOUTH. We also had a great deal of fun along with our work. Our social event of the year was a class picnic in April at Greshamis Lake. Our second step on the ladder was our Sopho- more year. By now we were accustomed to high school and looked forward to a year of great events and expectations. With MRS. YELTON as our homeroom teacher, we had a year of great hap- penings. As Sophomores, we realized the necessity of work and settled down to becoming good stu- dents. We also had many new friends join our class. They were: ODELL and ROY CODY from Brevard, JAMES DENNING from Hugh Morson, MARY LOU EARLEY from Colerain High, DELORES POOLE from Hugh Morson, MARIE STONE from Angier, BILL STOFFREGEN from Needham Broughton, DAN VAN MATER from Cary and SHIRLEY WILLIFORD from Knightdale. We lost several of our classmates. Those who left were: RUTH PACE and JANE PUGH who left us to be married and MARIE STONE and FRANKLIN I W :7 ' 'va w' ,. J 1., E a 5,.Jan A l t...'....-a t WILLIAMS who left to continue their education elsewhere. At last our turn came to step on the third rung of the ladder, our Junior year. Our class was very large and therefore, we had two wonderful home- room teachers, MISS STEVENS and MR. JOHN- SON. Without their assistance, the year wouldnit have been as prosperous as it was for us. Again we gained new classmates. Among them were: RONNY STALLINGS from Edward Best High, REX GIRTON and BILLY MITCHELL from Hugh Morson, PAUL CHAMBLEE Broughton and JOSEPH LAMBETH from Fayette- ville. On the darker side of the news we lost others from our class. They were: AUDREY MATHENY, PAUL CHAMBLEE, ELSIE STELL, J. T. BAR- HAM, ARTHUR GENE LOWERY, JAMES DEN- NING and PEGGY STEWART and KATHERINE RANDALL to the Senior class. The outstanding events of the year were the Junior-Senior Banquet from Needham and the Junior play entitled, Lefs F ace It. Now we are on the final rung of the ladder, our Senior year of high school. We are looking forward to receiving our diplomas in May but with regrets. This year has been enjoyable to us but we have had to work to maintain our scholastic standings. t We have our memories of Millbrook to keep with us always. We have gained two new friends this year. They are: BOBBY GOUGE from Garner and PEGGY MISSKELLEY from the Junior class. We lost one classmate, FRANK RICHARDSON. Our greatest feat has been the publication of The Laurel. May we never forget our socials of the year, a Christmas and Valentine party in the recreation room. As we draw near our finals of our four years, we have memories that time will not erase.
