SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS Left to right: Mary Cauley, Sponsor; Sharon Tenney, Treasurer; Gertha Loan, President; Katie Ford, Reporter; Amelia Leach, Vice President; Dorothy Campbell, Secretary. CLASS HISTORY In the eighth grade we started out with 22 pu- pils. In this year we had a spelling match with two participating. Our spelling match included the schools in our county. Peggy Ingram won with a runner-up Bonnie Sue Pugh from Mitchelltown school. Both went to Waynesboro to compete with 6 other county ' s winning contestants. In our freshman year we had 16 pupils. We had one boy and 4 girls going out for basketball. We also had a party which was held in our gym- nasium. We were allowed to invite one guest. In our sophomore year we sponsored a square dance which was held in our school September 24, 1961. We had 1 boy and 3 girls going out for basketball this year. The 3 girls made first team. Two students were eligible for the Beta Club. Several are in the Glee Club. Ten are in the F. H. A. Mary Cauley Sponsor 22

CLASS HISTORY Mary Skinner Sponsor In 1959-60 we began high school as eighth graders, with about 30 on our class roll. Mr. Capley was our homeroom teacher, and our other teachers were Mrs. Cauley, Mrs. Skinner, Mrs. Catron and Mr. Ellis. During the year many of our class members participated in various school activities. Our class was well represented in the Glee Club, Pep Club, and Drama Club. Class officers elected for the year were: President: Vice President: Secretary: Treasurer: Reporter: Kenneth Matheney Dennis Jack Dora Brown Betty Neff Leland Coursey As freshmen we have a somewhat smaller class with 19 enroll. Mrs. Skinner is our home- room teacher. Our class officers were: President: Litz Noyes Vice President: Norma Blanchard Secretary: Linda Tennant Treasurer: Andy Porter Reporter: Marlene Ross In October Litz Noyes moved away so Nor- man Blanchard was elected class president to take her place. Last Fall we sold stationery to raise funds for our class. One of our last activities was a Christmas Party in December.
