CLASS HISTORY Submitted below is the history of the graduating class of 1961 as nearly correct as my memory will permit me to write it. On September 7, 1949, 37 eager Little boys and girls entered the first grade. Miss Haynes, taking the problem in hand got us on the path to the goal of a senior. All of our grade teachers. Miss Harouff, Mrs. McLaughlin, Mrs. Blanchard, Mrs. Schoonover, Mrs. McCray, Mrs. Tyree and Mrs. Hupman, we would like to thank for having patience and love for us. The two features that stand out in our minds are the decora- tions we put up in our rooms, and our trips to the historical sights and non historical sights. These we will add to our lists of memories. The door to high school was then opened to us. My, the acti- vities we became a part of. In the eighth, ninth, and tenth grades our highlights included dances and parties. Our sponsors these years were; eighth grade, Mr. Hileman; ninth grade, Mrs. Mary Skinner; tenth grade, Mrs. Mary Cauley. In the eleventh grade we sponsored the more special events. The year began with our Junior Play, Dear Ruth . We sponsored the Junior-Senior Prom of 1960, which was very beautiful. On April 25, 1960 we received our class rings. This was certainly a red letter day in our lives. We would like to say a special thanks to Mr. Ellis, our class sponsor, for making this a wonderful year. And now we are seniors, that long strived for goal. As twenty .of us stepped into the Senior room that first morning, greeted by our sponsor, we knew this was it. We were joined by seven seniors from Goshen High and one from Clifton Forge High. For a brief moment on the day we took our cap and gown pic- tures, the class could picture themselves as on graduation day. There are many decisions we must make during the year. Selecting the annual cover, our motto and many more are ours to make. We thank Mr. Skinner for advising us in making these de- cisions. The time has been so very short but wonderful. We will be saying good-bye to our classmates before very long. There will be the time to say good-bye to our school, M.H.S., the home of the ’ ' Wildcats . May that spirit never die in us, and when we hear the song, TisDear Old Millboro , be proud to say that is my school song. 15
