History At the close of this year we went to Lakeside Amusement Park for a picnic, and saw a show afterwards. Class officers for this year were: President, Bobby Lyle; Vice President, Dale Purvis; Secretary, Lois Neff; and Treasurer, Bobby Botkin. On September 7, 1955, we entered our Junior year with 21 on roll. Our teachers this year were: Vida Fairchild, Commercial and homeroom; M. P. Skinner, English; Alfred Cleveland, Social Studies; Mary B. MuUis, Home Economics; Joe Joyce, Agriculture; Mary E. Skinner, Science. During this year Mr. Cleveland took some of his Government and History students on a trip to Washington, D. C. They took in many historical places aroixnd and in Washington, and had a very successful weekend trip. Our class officers this year were: President, Harper Wagner ; Vice President, Lois Neff; Secretary, Kay Loan; Treasurer, Beatrice Deitz; Reporter, Dale Purvis. On September 4, 1956, we entered the Library to begin our last year, as Seniors, with Mr. M. P, Skinner as our homer oom teacher . Our teachers this year are Mr. Skinner, English; Mary E, Skinner, Science; Mary Cauley, Math; Vida Fairchild, Commercial; Mary B. MuUis, Home Economics; and Joe Joyce, Agriculture. We have a new principal Mr. John B. Farrar who re- placed Mr. Knobloch. At the beginning of this year we were invited to attend afootbaU game at the University of Virginia, in Charlotte s- vUle, for the opening game in which The Virginia Cavilers played V. M. I. Our class officers this year are: President, Harper Ray Wa gner; Vice President, Johnnie Leach; Secretary, Greta Webb; Treasurer, Lois Neff; Reporter, Bobby Wil- liams. Now as we look back, we will always remember these joyous times we have spent together. Working or playing we have succeeded thus far, and feel sure of ourselves as good American citizens. As these years have gone along like crazy, some have dropped out or failed. There are stiU twenty of us. Ten boys and ten girls who will walk down that aisle in June to graduate hoping our future will be as bright as those glorious times we have left behind us.

Class Another twelve year s has gone by like lightning, with us hardly realizing it. In 1945 a group of 29 girls, and 22 boys, 51 in all, entered the first grade with Miss Haynes as their teacher. Our fir st seven year 8 were sometimes difficult, but with the assistance of our teachers, principals, and all of us work- ing together we have been successful thus far. Our teachers those first seven years of grade school were: Miss Haynes, Miss Harouff, Mrs. Wamsley, Mrs. Brady, Miss Whiteside, Miss Roundy, Mrs, McLaughlin, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. William Cauley, Mrs. Deeds, Mrs. McCray and Miss Turner. In the seventh grade, some extra pupils were added from Burns- ville and Williamsville, these being Dale Purvis, Janine Sevigney, and Johnnie Leach. When we entered the eighth grade on September 4, 1952, with 35 on roll, we were very anxious to start in to changing classes. This year we had Grant Rush as our principal who came to our school in 1951. Our teachers were: Jewell Rush, homeroom and commercial; Mary Cauley, homeroom and Mathematics; M. P. Skinner, English; John Root, Sci- ence; LairdRush, Social Studies and Coach; and Helen Brink- ley, Home Economics. On September 2, 1953, 34 of us entered our freshman year. This was quite a year for all of us. We had a new homeroom teacher, Paul Schoonover, who also taught Sci- ence and Mathematics. We also acquired a new principal, Mr. Fred Knobloch who replaced Mr. Rush. Other teachers were: Mary Cauley, Mathematics; Vida Fairchild, Com- mercial;.M. P. Skinner, English; Laird Rush, Social Studies and Coach; and Mary B. Mullis, Home Economics, Our class officers were: President, Kay Loan; Vice President, Nancy Arbogast; Secretary, Hazel Neff; Treasurer, Janine Sevig- ney. During this year Janine left us to go to Florida. When September 1, 1954, rolled around, 25 Sophomores entered into Mr. Schoonover ' s homeroom again, to begin another year of work and fun, to climb still another step higher. Alfred Cleveland replaced Laird Rush as our new Social Studies teacher and Coach. Our other teachers were: M. P. Skinner, English; Mary B. Mullis, Home Economics; Mary Cauley, Mathematics and Civics; Vida Fairchild, Com- mercial; and Paul Schoonover, Science and Mathematics. Some of our class members, Nancy Arbogast, Greta Webb, Kay Loan, Harper Wagner, and John McCoy assisted the Jviniors in presenting their play It Happened At Midnight.
